Very disappointed with Motor Trike

I just got off the phone with my Honda dealer who ordered my GT3 Trike kit June 14,2017...it is now July 12; come to find out that Motor Trike will not be shipping my kit until July 23, 2017...Seven weeks to receive kit that they originally told me 3-5 business days (because) I was not going to have them do the painting.....I have seen a lot of good posts about this company and hope and pray that they will be better on their product than they are on their shipping times.

The main reason I placed this post is in the event that someone might be thinking about buying one of their kits, that you may want to check on their time table as of late.

I see this as unacceptable, I'd be cancelling that order no later than today. There are many other good kits and builders. I do not believe Motor Trike is that inundated with orders. Talked with a MT builder couple weeks ago, he said business was slow, and slower.

Sometimes the dealers for one reason or another are the cause of the delays ...

Did you call the company direct and ask whats the problem....

Yes

Yes I did, they told me that they are up 150 percent and they are usually busy in April , but this year they did not pick up until May causing them to get way behind, this may be a song and dance, we will see

That might of been nice to know when you ordered it.

Is it me or have quality control and customer service have taken a back seat to bottom line and the almighty buck lately?

i ordered a luggage rack from eBay. It arrived yesterday and "looked" really good. Tried to install it this morning and it had no instructions, not a biggie it wasn't rocket science, but a template to drill the holes would of been nice. Then one of the "legs" was too big around to fit into it's foot. After I filed it down so it would fit, I realized that only 3 of the four washers they sent had holes large enough to fit over the screws. All four of the threaded legs had chrome on the inside of the threads. I had to tap them out to get the screws in. Good thing I'm semi mechanical or it would of been a bust.

When I placed my order for my Road King / MT conversion, my installer (Blackburn Trikes in Medina, Ohio) called the MT factory and got an approximate build date. Mine also came unpainted (Blackburn does all the painting in-house). Total time from ordering to picking up the bike was 6 weeks.

Good to know

Good to know this has been going on, I just wish someone would have been up front with me instead of having me wait thinking I was going to be able to ride again soon instead of having to wait almost another month...I guess it is another trial on my patience

One thing many never think of is to have their bike converted during the winter hibernation. The conversion manufacturers slow down in winter months and then get slammed come summer. Having the conversion ordered in the winter and the bike converted then, means come spring your trike is done and ready to go.

I'd get a conversion faster in the winter months.

Not an option for this year riding

True, I could have waited until the winter, however, for health reasons (unable to ride safely with just two wheels), I chose to purchase the kit because of their claims of a speedy delivery thinking that I would be able to ride a little this year instead of next.

That is true

That is true, however, I do not have a GW I have a Silverwing, which they build to order as well, but, before I ordered, my original conversation with my dealer, they stated: it would be 4 weeks. It is really a mute point at this time....I just wanted future customers of MT to be aware of the delay at this time.

I'm not saying this happened, but I my small world of repair, **it happens all the time that can "upset" deadlines. For example, knowing that my trans machine shop that machines my gears is in the middle of m/c racing season, and he gets extremely busy, as a curtsey to him, I'd called him on a Mon and advised him I would not need my transmission work completed for 10 days ... "oh, man I appreciate that !!!" was his response. The next day I'd called asking for my original ETA time back. Unfortunately, he'd informed me that 8 Hayabusa trannies with promises of ETA's are now in front of me. As a result, my trannies were done as promised, 10 days later.

If you placed your trike kit order during the same conversation when they'd promised that it would only take 3-5 days, they should have respected their promise. However, **it does happen, and I'll bet they are doing the best they can to get your order completed for you as fast as they can. If by chance your order was placed at later time and after that conversation, possibly 8 "busas" got kits ordered in front of you. Yes ... I know Hayabusa's probably don't get triked, but hopefully the OP gets my point.

Well i got that beat, and I understood why.

Bought brand new 05 Gl1800 - July 8th, 2005

Ordered new kit on July 9th, 2005

Picked up Trike September 6th, 2005

This was the first year for the )5 metallic silver, and my installer wanted MT to paint the kit, so he would be sure it was right.

Annnnd th paint booth in Texas got backed up

Turned out he was right, and it took 90 days to get trike...

it will go fast
