I was an owner operator for the last twelve years of a thirty seven year over the road truck driving career. My dog (my co driver) and I were together for six and a half years on the truck. He died four months or so after we retired in December of 2015. I got a trike builder helper six months later. She is a Chihuahua, Dachshund mix. She stands in the passenger side seat of our 1971 VW Beetle, and puts her head on my sholder. She's tall for a Chihuahua.
We are making a trike out of a Vokaro kitcar. It is registered as a 1969 Carmen Ghia. We're using the back half of the Vokaro for the body. We're making a Leading link front end out of five foot long, two inch, cold rolled, solid steel, round bars. We're using the seat from a 1975 convertible super beetle. The engine is a stock 1600cc, with a four speed "freeway flyer". I have most of the front end metal, so we'll begin working on it next month when we get the rest of it. Sharley, the dog, helps me by going parts hunting with me, and she keeps the grimlins away from Tootsie Trike.
I've been lurking here for a while, and like the answers, and the willingness to help here. We're not too savy on anything but trucking, but every now and again I'll put in my two cents worth.
Thanks,---Robert.
