The Mighty-mites went on fairly easy except for the supplied stainless washer that goes under the castle nut to hold the Mites on! It was too small to fit over the threaded end of the vibration dampner and I had to drill the hole larger!

All went well with only one knuckle bust removing the old dampner! Plugged the 8 pin adapter on and plugged it into the Left side cover 8 pin power source and Shazzam the fans came on! Problem is the ignition wasn't on and key fob was in the house and trike is in the barn?

Yep! That 8 pin connector isn't switched! So the fans can be turned on any time by anyone?:( Might as well wire direct to the battery with the supplied fuse block!

I guess I was wrong in thinking it was switched. The nice 8 pin adapter makes hook up easy and no wire cutting; But???

That's not right. Make sure you didn't plug in to the data link connector. I think the owners manual miss identified the two connectors. Data link is dark grey

It's the only 8 pin connector under Left side cover and it color matches the 8 pin adapter. It is light gray and Identified as Accessory plug in my manual!?

The darker one under it is a darker almost black 6 pin non matching plug in. There are no other 8 pin grey connectors I can find This one was plugged with rubber plug! Just under the 50 amp fuse!

That's the one, but it should shut anything plug in to it when the ignition is off and not work with the ignition off. Something is amiss.

Makes me think one of the wires is plug in wrong in the socket leaving it hot when the ignition is off. Do you have the electrical manual?

I have found that some factory HD accessory plugs are switched and some are hot all the time depending on the year and model.

Mine is a 2015 freewheeler. I metered the harley deutch plug and the red with blue stripe is always hot. There'e a black ground wire directly above it on the plug; next to the black wire is a blue wire (may have a red stripe??) this is 12v switched on off with ignition!

Not sure what it's for I don't have the electrical service manuals? So wouldn't that wire work as an on off source? Just move the pin in the adapter wire!?? I can't be the only one with this problem???

Everyone I talk to says my plug should be switched? Well it is to the blue wire but not the red power wire?

The fans look great and you can't hear them with the trike running! I havn't ridden it yet, trying to get the wiring right.

2015 Freewheeler Update; Just a quick fix: Use the black and purple wires: That purple/blue stripe next to the black ground is the switched 12V wire in your 8 pin plug

The 8 pin adapter plug that came with my Love Juggs Mighty-Mites was wired for non switched full time power! Just switch your red wire in the provided 8 pin plug up to the purple/blue hole next to the black ground and you now have a switched accessory power source to your fans!

Simple fix

The Harley Tech was right on it; 60 seconds with the little tool and wire was moved up!

Thanks for all the help 52edub

So how do you like those Mighty Mites? Thinking about ordering some.

Don't wait, get them. Was up on the Blue Ridge Parkway all weekend for Merging Mountains HOG rally. Great weather and perfect temperatures. However, going home the temps were in the mid-90s and the bike never went in to heat mode when I hit a little bit of traffic here and there. Perfect for city riding here in hot Virginia.

Awesome!

I Concur with52edub! Buy them they work! When the Harley tech switched the pins on the adapter; he remarked "They really flow some air!"

They have a high pitch turbo like sound without engine running but engine noise drowns it out! The black version is hardly noticeable and mine don't seem to shake much at all!

It's gonna be close to or at 100deg here this week! 110deg in Tucson!

I have the DK outlaw 606 air cleaner too! No hot oily gas's in the intake and a noticeable power boost!

I can relocate the pins on the 8 pin adapter plugs to switched rather than hot all the time so you wont have to fool with swapping the pins. I am making up a batch for stock that can be ordered individually or with your fan order.

Just order item ADP-2 switched 8 pin adapter as seen HERE.

Received the Mighty Mites Yesterday (Thanks for the fast service Zook), installed them yesterday evening and went for a test ride.

80 degrees when I left and 77 degrees when I returned, back road route no highway miles yet. With fans off I was getting temps around 265 degrees turned fans on the temp dropped down to 250 (temps from Power Vision display).

So they did help some but from reading various reviews / comments I was expecting more than a 15 degree difference. Maybe it's to early to tell how much they really help until I put on some more miles with them.

Hey Mitch,

Thanks much for the order. In 80 degree ambient temp, 250 CHT is a good number and unless it is really cold out, as in 30s to 40s, you wont see it get much below that number during normal operation, nor do you want it much lower as that is where it needs to be to burn off any moisture and acid contaminates that naturally accumulate in the crankcase.

ET, aka CHT is read off the front cylinder and not the rear cylinder which runs much hotter and is where the damage is often done if not kept in check. This is why Harley now offers a new cooling fan mounted behind the rear cylinder to direct that heat down and away from the rider and passenger. They know engine heat is a serious problem.

You can bet that Harley, LeNale and Jim's Fans would be selling a dual fan system if Love Jugs didnt have a utility patent on it because it has been proven to be the most effective method out there for cooling the front and rear cylinders, by directing air directly at the hottest spot, the spark plug, rather than between the cylinders.
