Hello all. I am a disabled Veteran and was wondering if any of you out there know of any programs available to help me get my Suzuki Boulevard C50T converted to a trike. I was injured in Iraq and find it difficult to to ride on two wheels and have been searching everywhere for programs to help me convert my bike to a trike so i can ride again. Any Information would be appreciated. Trike conversions are expensive and unfortunately I'm on VA disability compensation and the only programs I have found are for cars, trucks, and vans.

I sent an E-Mail to Voyager and still waiting on them to contact me. In the mean time i checked out a site for government grants, didn't see anything there so i gave them a call. The lady I spoke with asked what Zi was needing the money for so i explained my situation to her. Her reply was" I don't care if you are a disabled vet, No one is going to help you with your trike conversion and promptly hung up on me. There are some really nasty people out there.

Perhaps the Wounded Warrior Project or the Gary Sinise Foundation can either help or refer you to someone who can?
I already spoke to someone from Gary Sinise Foundation and they didn't really know of anyone, I also spoke to the American Legion Riders national HQ and they didn't know of any programs either. They said that a conversion company did one for a veteran a couple of years ago but it was just to get publicity and no one has done anything like that since then. The VA only does cars trucks and Vans.

I wonder if your best bet wouldn't be to sell your ride and buy into a pre-converted trike,
There are c-50's out there if that's what you want?

They are good little trikes.

Lehman made a renegade kit and my friends wife has one on a c-50, She rarely rides it but wont sell.
Darn thing is dependable and is able to keep up with the pack ok, Not really what I would want for distance travel but I have ridden it 500 or so miles and would get one just to have around.:Coffee:

Let me start off by saying I'm also a Veteran [Nam 66]
But You have to understand, That someone that gives out grants to disable Vets, And doesn't ride Would not think helping you convert a Motorcycle so you can ride a good idea ..A car or truck yes, Motorcycle no..And before someone says its a Trike ....99% of the members with Trikes' Bristle when someone tells them a Trike isn't a Motorcycle.. And so to a layperson a Trike is a Motorcycle.....And please don't take my thought's on this as criticism..

Thank you for your service. I understand where they are coming from. I just figured I might have found someone out there that could help me out. I could trade or sell my bike but unfortunately, I still have a lean on it for a bit longer. My only income at the moment is my VA Disability and Conversions are very expensive. I had a very nice Honda Goldwing 75th Anniversary edition with a CSC on it that I really loved but the ex got that one. I'll figure something out and get back to riding.

Has anyone here heard of Trip Trikes? It's a small company in Alabama. They have a really nice looking trike kit. It comes complete with wheels tires and an air ride suspension for under $3000.00.

Hi Murr let me start by saying thank you for your service. If things don't work out for you, I have a Suzuki Volusia C50 trike for sale. You can see pics of it in my albums and there is an ad in the classified section here. Maybe you can work out a financial situation to buy an already converted trike. Just a suggestion. Again thank you and God Bless our veterans.

Latest update. I sent an E-Mail to the VA some time ago and they finally responded. They in fact do modifications for motorcycles. They said it's rare and that is why it's not listed under the benefits. They said i just need to talk to someone at my local VA Medical Center in the Auto Conversions Dept. So looks like i'm going to try that route and see what they have to say.

Had an appointment today at the VA and talked to the people who handle the vehicle mods there. they looked at my disabilities and told me that i should qualify. They have already done two trike conversions this year and said that my disabilities were at a higher scale than the previous veterans that they worked with. I got home and filled out the forms and am sending them to the regional office tomorrow. Worst that can happen is they say no. we shall see what happens.
