GPS Control Panel

I never use the gps on my 2006 goldwing motor trike. What effect will removing this control panel and replacing for another function have on the operation of the electronics. Thanks for any input. exphoneman

I strongly suspect the map function would be disabled completely as it would probably shut the NAVI operation down. Keep in mind also that your onboard clock function is integrated into the GPS so you would also loose that. :xszpv: :xszpv:

Like Gold Rush said, the clock and of coarse the GPS. To know for sure, disconnect it's control panel plug and see all that happens.

I unplugged the control panel today. Clock still works. Don't use the maps part. All other functions appear to work. More info later.

I'm surprised the clock still functions at all Bud since you have to go through the GPS control panel to set/adjust time settings. Interesting....... :xzqxz::xzqxz:

I've read before about taking control over GPS's LED screen by making it show a smart phone's screen. Basically, whatever is on the phones screen is on the LED screen.

However, it seems much easier to get a RAM mount and mount the Smart Phone then to go through all that trouble.

Gps still has power. Fuse 31 per the repair manual.
