TOP picture is the paint job I requested and supplied several pictures of from different angles

BOTTOM picture is how they painted itnew paint scheme.jpgwrong paint job.jpg

I don't think I will be paying for the paint job!!

Either ran out of black or was afraid if he went with black, he wouldn't be able to go back.
Would you believe a white cop walked in the paint shop and "shot down" the idea of painting with black?
Are those crickets I hear out there? Thank you. I'll be here all week.

Just a thought to consider before you go stringing anybody up or throwing in the towel on a knee-jerk assumption...
Seen MANY a RSV Trike. 99% + of them are Paint Schemed exactly like Pic #2 (differing colors of course).
ONLY one ever seen like Pic #1 is: Pic #1.

You absolutely sure the Manufacturer even offers or would do the Scheme as in Pic #1?
Was Pic #1 a One-Off Custom?

Just saying
Just as much if not more of a possibility as it is he screwed the Pooch.
Of course in keeping with his proven shortcomings in proper communication,
He should have made the "No Can Do" more clear and/or addressed that quickly and clearly up front. Definitely fumbled in the Comm area but that Defect of his is a well known fact already.

Besides, Paint can always be added. Far from a real reason to scrap the whole deal in my mind at least....
Did you pay for the Custom Paint Job/Scheme? If so, then at very least a Refund is due.
If not, No offense but did ya think you were getting more (in this case a Custom Job and quite a bit more) for no more money?

Not judging you or against ya here. Simply trying to help put some proper perspective on the situation.
Exacerbating-YES.
Reason to nuke it all-NO.

What we have here.............is a failure...............to comunicate. Check the installers/manufacturere price list. Two tones come with a bigger price. Two tones with striping even more. What does your contract call for?? Even the reds are different.

Was paying for two tone w/stripes!! Also was understood it would be painted the way I wanted it...words out of builders mouth!!

No explanation YET. He took pictures of the trike before putting it on the truck to bring back from NJ (a story in itself). At around 9:30 last night when he stopped for fuel and a break, he sent me the pictures.

As soon as I saw then I questioned him as to why it wasn't painted the way I asked. He seemed surprised and questioned what was wrong.

I explained about the emails between us w/pictures on 11/11 and 11/12....He sent me the picture that I had sent him and asked if that was it? I said yes.... he said that is the picture he sent to the painter.

Now, I'm no genius by any stretch of the imagination but if I was sent a picture of a bike that had floorboards and fenders painted black, I don't think I would paint them red...........maybe that is just me... If the painter had questions, he should have stopped and got clarification before painting!

After that conversation I had to go to work so if we don't talk today, I intend to drive the 90 miles after work and be at his shop when he opens... I will know more tomorrow.

That is the standard RSV two tone with stripes.

If you paid more than $1345.00 for paint they owe you some money back. If not, you got what you paid for.

Either way, your going to love the trike.

Don't want money back, I want it painted the way I requested and was told it would be...

As you know this is a great financial investment and when you sit down and plan out the building of your trike, you (at least I do) have a vision of how you want it to look. When you are told it will be done "as you requested" and then it's not....well I'm sure most would understand.

Hopefully when I meet with the owner this morning we will come to an understanding of what was ordered compared to what was (will be) delivered. Once again we will visit the topic of "communication". Not the way I want to spend a Sunday morning after working 21 straight nights....

Having been a Hannigan dealer for several years, I can tell you that the picture you provided is not what is considered the standard two-tone paint scheme. It is a custom paint job and would cost quiet a bit more than you were quoted. Anything beyond the standard two tone should have been noted on the order and priced accordingly, then signed off by all parties.

Met with owner today........we worked things out and have them in writing. So for now, I will take delivery Tuesday morning or Wednesday morning at the latest.

I test drove my trike this morning and OMG, can't believe how smooth of a ride...almost Zero head shake when hitting bumps and the independent suspension, I didn't even know I went over a bump or pothole.

He has a few things to finish up like the luggage rack, LED light bar and to find my 6 disc CD changer and install it. It is in one of the boxes of parts. Not sure why is wasn't relocated...

OK, time to focus on positive stuff like adding all the chrome that is on my countertop and riding, riding, riding.

In the fall if I decide I STILL want my originally requested paint job, he will set it up with Hannigan to repaint and it will be on his dime.

Thanks everyone for your support and input!!

I was refering to the picture they sent him of HIS bike, not the one he sent them.ThumbUp

Glad you got things worked out amicably.

How much more was your paint scheme to cost than the standard 2 tone?
PS, have you put StoneGard on the fenders yet? I put it on the front of my foot fairings also!

Not sure what exactly happened but I have been told that the picture of my requested paint joy WAS sent.

Not going to dwell on that now. I'm going to ride as much as possible this summer/fall and then if I decide I still want that paint job, the shop owner is going to schedule the repaint job with Hannigan to coincide for when he and his techs are there for training. Because of all the problems he has told me that the paint job is "on him" since he dropped the ball so many times.

who knows, buy the time the summer is over, I may have grown to love this paint job. time will tell.

Great attitude, Kudos for taking the high road. I respect a man who has the wisdom to take the path you are taking. It will pay you dividends in the long term for sure.

Won't have it until tomorrow or Wednesday morning. I may try to run over and back Saturday. I think it's about 4hrs each way. Will check weather and if ok will shoot for an early start.

Weather-wise, Wed or Sat look like a good possibility. Glad things are working out. We might be at Lk George, too. We'll be sure to watch for that new, shiny, red Hannigan. ThumbUp ThumbUp
