Cams, chain drive vs gear drive

I'm planning on doing a cam upgrade in the near future and thinking about going with a gear drive system. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on the pros and cons of either one. I have a 2020 TG with about 5600 miles on the engine. I know that this will have an affect on my warranty but I'll most likely loose my warranty due to another upgrade that I'm doing which is not engine related.

The most important figure is crank runout. You MUST be .003 or less for gear to gear.

The M8 using 1 chain is a better setup than the Twin Cams. For the most part it is fairly quiet compared to gear drive. Many big inch builders are still using the chain drive JMO

I would for sure update the lifters and cam bearing

What ever you do make sure what ever tuner you going to use they have a tune that will work for your set up cam exhaust air cleaner Dyno jet has very few if any tunes for a 2020 tri glide , fuel moto does not have any if you by from them have them show you the tune first ? I NO

Well, I just dropped a FM tune in my 2020 trike, haven’t had a chance to do some tuning runs, but it runs great. Most of the tunes are auto generated with specific valve timing, cubic inches, and tuning strategies etc. If FM sells you a cam, they have a tune for it. Last Jan, 2020, Jamie sent me a tune so I could look at it for the trike, this year, I finally got a new license for my PV, and another tune from FM. The only differences is the throttle control, maybe personal preference of someone, but not drastic. So they do have the capability to make a tune for almost any cam. I have had dealings with FM for some years, they go far and above what other companies claim.
