Anybody out there used a 12 O'clock Labs spedo correction unit on there GL1800 Trike.

I received mine a few days ago but have not installed it yet, wanted to check my speedo against my GPS on the trip we took to Arkansas last weekend.

At 70 mph on the GPS my speedo reads 75 mph, I know how to set the correction unit up but I do not know where the plug is located that I need to plug into.

I know where the Speed Sensor is but do not want to take off a bunch of Tupperware that is not required.

Any help would be great, just need to know where the plug is located.

I would radder have my speedo reading a little high, Just my preference mind you ....

Understand but I can't do it, my ride this last weekend with the group of 3 other GL1800 2 wheelers showed that all of the spedos were around 7% off.

I don't need Honda to protect me from myself.

It's not just Honda. Harley is the same thing and it may be an industry standard.

Correct ... which means get less on trade in ... at least in theory

My 19,000 mile Trike actually only has 17,670 miles on it, I don't feel real good about that.

I hear they corrected it in 2012 but that doesn't do me much good.

They deserve a class action lawsuit like Honda car owners slapped them with.

We installed the Dakota Digital plug and play on both our 2008 GL1800’s a few years ago. I don’t remember how much Tupperware Jim had to take off.. didn’t seem like it was too much. What I do remember is me sitting on the passenger seat to inform him when the GPS hit 70. He had to reach down with his right hand I believe and push a button.

Worked fine ever since. Really nice not to have to do the instant mental arithmetic when you pass a radar gun and glance in your rear-view mirror to see if the law is after you.

Ours, as did all our Jap bikes, registered about 7% too slow.

When I did mine I loosened the topshelter but didnt take it off so I could get access to the plug inside the boot on the lower right side near the frame. I want to say because its been awhile that theres 2 plugs ,a 2 prong and a three prong and the one that matches the speedohealer is the one you want. Youtube used to have a good video on setting it up also.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the reply Paws, I'll let you all know how it works.

Update:

Got the 12oclocklabs spedo correction device installed last night, works great, spedo is now accurate with the GPS through the entire range.

Getting to the plug is a challenge but programming the device is a breeze.

ThumbUp Glad you got’er done!

The speedo correction devices bring another level of pleasure to biking/trikeing...no more guessing games...you know EXACTLY how fast you are running. :)

Old school I know. Took the Kustom Signals radar out of police car, mounted on the 1200, took a ride & checked it. Made stickers. Served me well. I "extrapolated" the 99 & 90 entry, just to raise questions
