another school shooting.santa fe ,tx.8 dead, shooter in custody.what is wrong with these sickos.never had this problem years ago.prayers for the parents.

We need to have armed personal at the schools much like the air marshals. A coward with a gun and desire will think twice if he thinks someone will shoot back.

And who pays for these guards???

I haven't had any kids in school since 2000, yet I pay over $5k a year school taxes. $90k!

Restricting access to guns is free.

Arm the staff, train them. And whose gonna pay for the new controls on guns, cause that isn't free. You have to have someone control it. Good Luck. And if you want to eliminate guns, you have to pay to take away the guns.

There is no way to restrict access ... Chicago has the toughest gun laws around and one of the highest murder by gun rates ... just recently there was a school shooting there, stopped by a safety officer ... take away the guns and they'll use a truck ... arm the staff, they can shoot there driver.

I no longer have school age kids either, but, when I did, lots of other people that didn't have kids paid for my kids schooling too.

It is hard to respond to things like these shootings without getting angry. My thoughts are, THERE ARE NO EASY FIXES. One single fix will not stop the issue, it will take many different approaches. Prayers for all involved.

As long as the media keeps guns and shootings as headlines news there will be more and more copycats too. Make examples of a few of the worthless sob's and it will stop. But nooooo, can't do that, that would be inhumane. Give old sparky a shot at them. Kids have nothing to fear anymore.

The Santa Fe shooter was beat up and bullied at school according to the news. In my opinion the students are as much to blame as guns. Zero tolerance bullying laws may be a better place to start than trying to control guns.

When I was in school fights and bullies were few and far between but now, with social media someone can mass bully a person. One person posts an untruth, a photo shopped picture or an evil thought and it spreads like wild fire totally ostracizing a targeted student. No one will stand up for such a student in fear of retaliation.

That might be the difference in decades as when I was in school there was a fight every day. Some days multiple fights. You either stood up to the bullies or got more of it. Kids today are pampered and let WORDS get to them but bullying is not new. We had real fights. Blood letting fights. Not this social media junk. If that is what is getting to kids then parenting has failed miserably. Do parents talk to kids anymore? We used to talk about what happened every evening at the dinner table. But we were poor and didn't go to restaurants all the time. Sorta hard to talk about personal things in public. But then that seems to be what kids do on social media. Maybe there should an age limit on the use of any social media. It really is so much easier to bully someone with this stuff. Even on forums you see it. You got to grow a thick skin and kids just don't have that. When do you sell them beer or liquor? Maybe social media should be the same. So an age limit for phones. I know I know, crazy idea. Then start parenting instead of letting the phone do it.:D:D:D:clapping::clapping::clapping:

says today no death penaty,40 years and gets out.how much //ucking money does that cost taxpayers.firing squad on a few of these sicko and this **** would stop.

I don't get it

This waste of space certainly deserves the death penalty IMO Sad day for justice and the families that lost loved ones Not to mention the emotional scarring

The current law says juveniles cannot be placed on death row, nor executed no matter the crime.

Time to change the laws. No, its past time to change the laws as this scum will live happily in the can, getting 3 hots & a cot each & every day until his release sometime in the future...

The hard part for the survivors is that he'll likely be a "model" prisoner turning to religion or another worthy cause while doing his time, thus earning himself an early release...

How about times 10 sentences for this guy, that could put him in for a VERY long time to think about the ruin he has caused

And I hope he cells with the biggest baddest guy in there, maybe BAD ju ju will befall him
