Hello all! After kicking around buying a new TriGlide or coverting my ElectraGlide, I decided to have my local Harley dealer, ABC Harley Davidson in Waterford, MI, convert the bike to a CSC trike. I am very impressed with the qualtiy of the components and the engineering of the conversion kit. When we ordered the kit, I upgraded the shock, brakes, and added a raked triple tree and Champion reverse gear in the tranny. The motor was already a 95", to which I added a hydraulic cam plate, tuner, SE 204 cams, and 10.5:1 compression pistons. I hope to have the trike by the end of the month. I am so stinking excited, it is about all I can think about!!

Here are some photos of the conversion in progress:

Oh yeah, especially since Michigan is expected to have a warmer (60s!) than normal week this coming week!

Lucky, thank you! I hope to be on the road ASAP!!

Congrats on the new baby, Rick! So very happy for you . I've just had my new one for a month and only had weather to ride a couple of times. I understand your excitement!

I will keep the photos coming, but the project will sit a week while the installer has himself some fun at Daytona!

Rick Kay, I converted my Street Glide with the CSC Daytona and I just can't believe how well it turned out both in handling and in particular the ride.

Rode it 12,000 miles last year and I'll never look back.

A couple of things for you to consider if you haven't already: 1 "PRELOADER", I have the 325lbs spring also but the preloader will allow you to adjust the firmness/control of sided to side movement based on how much weight is on the Trike? Kyle @ CSC would do a much better job of how it is used.

I set it one way when I am alone and another when Bobbi is riding with me. Also, consider changing your 32 tooth trans pulley to a 30 tooth. You'll find a lot of information on the forum for this. Riding a Trike has a much different approach and feel. Take a half hour riding in a parking lot doing figure 8s/just riding in circles both ways. Hard to believe but that will make a huge difference when you go out on the roads. Ride Safe!!!!

Kruzr, thanks for your input. I will check out the preloader. It sounds like the ticket to customize the ride and handling of the trike. I will be in a similar situation, riding both 2 up and solo. As far as the 30 tooth pulley...I talked with the service manager about this, and he feels with the numbers the bike put down on the dyno, I should be fine. I've decided to "wait and see" how the trike accelerates, and if I need to do the pulley, I will do so.

I am a little concerned about starting out riding the trike. I've got nearly a lifetime of 2 wheel muscle memory stored. I was hoping the MSF would have a trike course, but I did not find one in my area. I'm probably overthinking it and will be fine if I let my instincts take over.

I should know in a couple weeks!!

I did not ride the bike with the SE 204 cams and 10.5:1 piston combo. When the bike went into the shop it was a stock 88" with a 95" bore added when new. I do know that I will have to have good fuel and will probably carry around a fuel supplement...but I have had a 10.5:1 compression motor on my Evo for a number of years and have a little experience around a higher compresion motor. I let the HD shop dyno and tune the bike...I would have no idea how to do that with fuel injeciton. I also know the dealer dynoed the bike with the trike exhaust in place to get it tuned properly.

Is there somethng I need to watch out for, Msocko3?

Pinging! The trike kit will add more load to the engine which could cause it to ping. If your a at a true 10.5:1 static compression your CCP with the 204 cam will be in the neighborhood of 207 which isn't a very lower octane fuel friendly compression. The tune will have to be spot on, the folks who built and tuned it may end up tweaking the tune once you get it triked and start getting into the hot weather.

I've always been a high compression lover but have moved away from that. I'm keeping the compression at a more reasonable level in all my builds. The 120 I just built for my 06 Ultra is what could be called a big dumb motor. The compression is 10.5:1 static with a corrected compression of 9.3:1 and a CCP of 193. This combination with a good tune should allow me to run everything from 93 octane fuel to 89 octane if need be.

Absolutely, I will be on the lookout for pinging. ThumbUp

A couple of good things about my situation is that the mechanic building the trike will be doing a series of rides for a total of at least 50 miles to wear in some components and adjust as needed. Hopefully he will notice any problems with pinging, etc, and we can get it corrected. Also, I run an oil cooler on all my bikes, so that will help with any heat related pinging.

Rick, you can get the Trike safe riding guide from MSF online. It comes with all new Tri Glides. Road 2 wheel for 20+ years with a 15 yr gap between 2 and 3 wheels. took MSF 2 wheel course for endorsement. I am thinking of continuing the MSF instructor course and teaching in Trike Only classes."You and your three wheeled motorcycle" "riding Tips" is the name. Odd thing is it states you can lean into the curves. I have never had the outside wheel lift but counter lean is what trike racers do. Trikes hold the MC record over 2 wheelers at Tail of the Dragon! With 2 up I ride a little over 400 lb and an additional 40-60lb on road trips!, Ride Safe, Ray

More photos and it should be ready next week!!

It's had a 50 mile test ride and adjustments, now the front end comes off for raked triple trees and some powdercoating.

The mechanic told me it rides like a dream at 80 MPH

Rear end configured for test riding.

I should have the trike by the end of next week, if things go as planned! :D I can hardly wait!!!
