I see a lot of pictures with people on their trikes wearing all sorts of things! When I ride my trikes or a motorcycle I wear a Helmet, gloves, Jacket with armor, long pants and boots... If I am going out to the canyons to race around I still go full leathers. I guess from my sport bike days and motor cross I wear as much protection as I can... I don't see that with most Harley people or Trikers?

So what do you wear.. and why?

Helmet, gloves, boots, chaps, and riding jacket with armor and synthetic material (that has an inner liner that can be removed to allow air to pass through). Why?... 'Cause I know what severe road rash feels like... BTDT ThumbUp

have to admit (not brag) but here in Tx 91 degree heat i ride with a t shirt jeans sneakers and sunglasses---when i michigan to abide by the law i ad a "cheater" 1/2 helmet

Full face helmet, armor mesh jacket in hot weather, armor leather jacket when below 55 degs. full finger gloves, over the ankle boots, and jeans in hot weather and overpants in temps below 48 degs.
When I say hot weather I'm talking Florida heat and jungle humidity.

The minimum is long sleeves, jeans, helmet ( It's the law all over OZ ) & riding boots. Going on the highway or out for the day add a leather jacket ( ventilated for warm weather, old style "brando" for cooler ) & quality gloves.
I have a stack of various helmets but mainly go for a 1/2 helmet in warm weather around town & a flip front, full face in cooler/bad weather and highways.

Wear a helmet 99% of the time, a jacket when its cold. For the most part jeans and tee shirt or tank top when its hot out.

I still, 90% of the time, am in a CE-Armored Textile Jacket, Gloves, Boots, CE-Armored Textile Riding Pants, Modular Full-Face Helmet. I too have been ridin' mostly Sport Bikes (Repsol CBR1000RR, CBR600RR, Versys, VFR, etc., etc., etc.) the last several years, before gettin' the Trike. I sold my Full Leathers, Leather CE-Armored Jackets, Leather Track Pants, Full Coverage (non-modular) Helmets, etc., and gone back to "old bad habits from the 70s" of smaller, lighter Open Face Helmets, Jeans, and "sometimes" on really hot days, Shirt and Leather Vest, Boots, Gloves on the Trike.

On the Honda PCX125 Scooter, it's still CE Jacket, Modular Helmet, Gloves, Boots, "usually" CE-Pants.......do I think the Trike Riding Apparel is Safe....NO (I've had Motorcycle Wrecks), but I've come to enjoy the open comfort on and off the Trike with the more "John-Q-Public" friendly apparel, and the Trike's "Balance Itself" Stance has me accepting it easier.

Now, this being said, if I go triking with my "Rowdy" Sport Bike or "Hardcore" Cruiser Friends at an aggressive clip, or trying New Handling Tweaks in the Twisties, I look more like I'm ready for a Track Day than Trike Day...NEVER TOO MUCH SAFETY GEAR, ANYTIME...but, I, too, have become somewhat of a "slacker" on the Trike.....ThumbUp  ***

Full-face helmet, gloves, over-the-ankle boots and long pants are all standard, all the time. In cold weather, an armored jacket (with a liner for REALLY cold weather). In hot weather (9 mos. of the year down here) its a Kevlar mesh shirt with reinforcing built in. My "publicity photo" shows the wife and I on the trike with no protective gear at all, but that's only because we are so much more photogenic without it.

Live and let live. If somebody wants to ride in shorts and flip-flops, that's their decision and they will have to live (or die) with the consequences.

I don't feel the need to question why somebody wears what they do and I would hope that nobody questions me in return.

I too think people should wear what ever they want to wear to ride. For me it's a fun question and I like your answer as much as everyone else's ThumbUp

Flip Flops. In OZ they are called thongs. Yes, I know that you guys call thongs. The old hands at riding call them " Japanese Flying Boots ".
In the 70s, when I started riding the standard " bikie" ( that had no negative meaning then. Bikie, truckie, pushie ) attire was calf high rabbit fur lined "flying boots", blue jeans with a rolled up cuff, flannelette tartan shirt, denim jacket with the sleeves cut off ( patches & badges attached ). In cold weather you wore rabbit fur lined gauntlets from army disposal and stuffed a newspaper ( folded out flat ) inside your shirt.
After a long ,hot days ride when you took the fur lined boots off you needed to put some distance between you and said boots. Whooof ! A bit whiffy !

I too, have gotten a little lighter on gear. Jeans most often, a few times shorts if i am running into town for something. (5 miles) always a helmet open face or 1/2 depends on temp.
gloves 99% range from t shirt to long t shirt, to sweatshirt to a variety of jackets and various boots to gym shoes depends on length of ride

I dress like I did thur decades of sport & track riding...what if I go down! And I'd gone down ' a couple of times' (oops pants on fire!!). Full face helmets for Wifey & me. 3/4 length Motorad Jacket 80% of the time or a mesh jacket to off set los angeles summers. Either full boots on multiday trips or mesh boots again in summer. Last year or 2, have topped it all off with a Bilt hi-vis vest since both, the Beemer & mesh jackets are grey-black combos. Wifey uses similar gear.

Shorts huh???? How does the wind blow...lol! ThumbUp

ATGATT for us. Mesh jacket and pants with armor in warm weather, Solid textile jacket and pants with armor in cooler temps. Always either an N43 Nolan (with intercom when two up) or an N90 when solo. Always gloves, always boots. If it's too hot for gear it's too hot to ride, and thusfar it's never been too hot to ride. Seriously, in summer heat I wear the LD comfort stuff under the vented jacket and pants and it's as comfortable as you're likely to get when it's 90+ or better out. I'm too old for road rash if I can possibly avoid it;)

Live Free, Ride Safe, Dress as You wish knowing the possible consequences or Lock Yourself in a cage and Shut Up!! No Dist Meant, but Its your Life, Live It!!

Right on! I have been hit 3 times now and as long as I'm alive I'll ride something any way I can. We're all adults on here and I don't think you're being disrespectful I think you have an opinion that is no better or worse than anyone else. ThumbUp

Hell some days I'd ride naked..if it weren't for June bugs!!!
