Well I got tired of being in trikeless, now all that's left is getting it in and taking a test ride. Then, I might even make it to the Valley! Any input from current Spyder owners, or folks with experiance. Any knowledge will be welcome.:Excited:

No help on the Spyder, but shore am glad your are not trikeless anymore.See ya in THE VALLEY.RIDE SAFE

Yay Fred! Can't wait to see you and the new trike :)

Ted, the plan is to get home and take a good test ride (30-50 miles) if every thing goes well, they should have the bike in and ready around Memorial Day. I have reservations in Maggie Valley for the 20th.. Color wise Lava Bronze Metallic, with the tan (looks like saddle leather) seat. It's kind of ironic that two days latter Stallion finally makes some kind of action in the market, oh well. Looking forward to seeing you and MJ in a month!!

Good morning.
Last spring I bought A new
RT spyder, this spring the RT is for sale.
Being A big guy I never could get comfy on it. Tried different pegs, floorboards. It did'n help that I had A lousy dealer. Also A spyder is a real expensive ride to upkeep. So all that being said, more issues I'm getting a convectional trike setup.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
Ride safe, BigBob

Hi, Fred. Congratulations on you new ride! Hope to see you in the Valley! ...........
Mikey and Natalie

I have a girlfriend in Washington state that bought one about 2 months ago and is totally loving it. Many different trikes, 1000's of riders. Try it, you may like it!

Dear Fred ; The stallion dealer in Oreana Ill has a NEW DEMO Blue Stallion for sale on E Bay. also new stallions are being built BUY what you want and are comfortable with and hopefully we will all see you and Miles in Maggie Valley next month Charlie D & the IMP.ThumbUp

Hooked up with a Spyder owner and his wife in a rest area above the Dells in Wisconsin. To sum it up, his feeling was that for me, 385lbs., and not looking to do any sport riding, don't even consider a Spyder! It took him several months to get comfortable enough to take his wife out with him. They really like it, but are not at the really love it point yet. Had it since June, think that I'll be going for a Stallion. Stick with what you are comfortable with ThumbUp

Guess I'll be stopping at R & R on my way to Maggie Valley!

I have the RT model. Like I posted before it does take some getting used to but once you do it matches the ride and space of a gold wing. The only problem is the range is not as good as I would like. I have not questioned my decision and have had no issues or problems.

Fred I'm sure Ronny at R & R will be glad to see ya. MJ and I will be in that area befor MV. Maybe we can have dinner. I thuink a Stallion which you all readt know all about is a better decision. I think the Can-Am would of been very uncomfortable for you. See ya soon.

Hey Big Dog. I've never ridden a Spyder and have no opinion on handling. Seems to me you could remove the front "trunk" lid and make a seat for "Little Dog" (Miles, right?). Of course, then no storage room, but what's more important...Having clean clothes or Miles?

I really should pay attention to see if there is a 2nd page to postings some day. So anyways, I guess you could bungy cord Miles to the front of the Stallion. Yes, he could ride inside, but where's the fun in that?

We have had our RTS for about 15 months and are about to turn over 25k miles. We are some well fed folks, and with a very few mods, find ourselves most comfortable ...well the mileage speaks for itself. Heading out for the annual midwestern tour this next Saturday this time with a trailer in tow. This will be the second trip there on the Spyder. If you aren't sure at all, as was mentioned go to Spyderlovers.com It is indeed the good, bad, and ugly, gloves off website. What we have found is 1. Folks either love them or hate them. 2. I don't miss my GoldWing all that much anymore.
Watch your airspeed....Patrick

:Congrats: on your new ride heres mine a 2010 rs and a new 2013 rt yeh i like blue, have fun ride like the wind.ThumbUp

October 2012 me and my son bought two identical Blue RT A/C SEM5's. He sold his after 850 miles. I sold mine at 4900 miles. The Spyder for both of us was one difficult ride. We could not keep them it in the lane. To say it had jittery handling would be an understatement. A blast from a passing car or going down hill in a curve would create a pucker factor of 10. My Christian faith grew exponentially during our trip the full length of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Maybe with the correct mods these problems can be corrected. In my opinion you should not need to install mods on a new machine to feel safe when riding it.

I would not recommend a 2013 and below with the SEM5 transmission.

The clutch does not lock up until around 3300 RPM.

That means it is slipping below that speed. My clutch pack went out at 4800 miles and it took 5 weeks to get it repaired. I tried to keep it over 3300 but in heavy traffic that is not always possible. The 2014 sound like BRP has made some major improvements but there are still some transmission issues that need to be addressed. BRP has a reputation for letting the customer be their R&D. I would not buy a 2014 until late in the model year or until the 2105 hits the market.

A good dealer for any brand is worth their weight in gold. While the sales department at Greenville Power Sports is worthless the service department is 5 star based on my experience.

Spyder Fest is worth the trip. BRP really puts on the dog.

Spyder owners and the support they give each other is as good as it gets. Spyderlovers.com is another great go to place for info and advice.

I now have a 2012 Goldwing package three with a Motor Trike Razor kit.

My wife loves it. She has a herniated disk in her lower back. With the IRS and air bags she can sit for hours without any problems. Not one scarey moment to date. It takes curves like it was on rails. Ten miles per hour over the posted speed limit on any curve feels safe. On the Spyder riding two up I had to slow to at least ten under or what ever the yellow sign had posted. In general I liked the Spyder. If it had fewer bugs, was a little bigger and had the 1832 Honda engine I might reconsider.

Since the GoldWing should be good for the next 330k mile I will not be looking any time soon.
