New England rally

Any ideas yet on where we are planning on having the event? I have to look into a room for Fri and Sat. I need a place to set up the dyalisis machine. Also need 30 + notice for work time off. BBQ or eating out?

Due to family reasons, Road Dog isn't able to host a cookout, and it seems nobody has heard from BuggiePilot, so I am suggesting the following -

1 - There isn't much by way of excitement in Sturbridge, but this area seems to be fairly central for all the "New Englanders" planning on gathering, so why don't we keep that part of the plan? There are a number of hotels in the area - Hampton Inn, Super 8, and Quality Inn are the biggest three, and there's a Comfort Inn & Suites about a mile or two down the road, right next to a gas station & a Cracker Barrell. All are close to Rte 84, and on/next to Rte 20.

2 - Saturday morning, gather for Jonesy's ride to Mystic, CT. Knowing him, it'll be a leisurely, scenic ride followed by somewhere great to have lunch and/or ice cream! Jonesy can fill us in on the times, mileage, etc.

3 - Sunday, meet for an early lunch somewhere, and everyone can head in their respective directions from there as needed.

I'm hoping the "eating out" won't be too much of a hardship on anyone, but it looks like this is the best we can do this year. Depending on what everyone likes for food, we have an Applebees, a Chicago Grill/Uno's, chinese, a Friendly's, and a couple of Italian places, to name a few, as well as a bunch of "local" places. There is one Italian restaurant I've wanted to try for a while now - that one might make a good choice for Sunday, since it looks like there'd be PLENTY of room for all of us!

Comments, suggestions? (Be nice! ;))

looked up super 8, $85 area, pool, fridge, 24 hr. desk, others more didn't see fridge mentioned at any others.

wife spent 2 days in sturbridge this spring, knows of decent breakfast place, dinner spot also.

as far as ride goes, we'll go thur southbridge on rte. 131s, only real traffic, then on to rte.169s, to rte. 138e now here's a choice to make, how about Newport, RI. instead of Mystic. 90-100 miles by backsroads I listed to newport, mystic about the same. , but a nice ride to ethier. Alot more to see in Newport. I'd say early start to either, eat at 7, road by 8.

My post vanished, so let me try this again!

I believe the Hampton Inn has a fridge in the rooms - Bozo stayed there last year, and I think he said his wife's meds were one of the reasons (plus I know he likes the breakfasts at Hampton Inns ;)).

There are a couple of really good breakfast places fairly close to all the hotels.
~ Annie's - Very good, but small-ish, and fills up fast on weekends, especially after about 8am.
~ Village Eatery - Haven't eaten there myself, but I've heard lots of good things about it. Also looks a bit on the small side.
~ Cracker Barrell - I think they have breakfasts. Haven't been to one in years though.
~ Friendly's - Larger, but a "chain" restaurant.

Mystic or Newport? I'm game for either one - haven't been to either in over 30 years!! :)

How early we can get out in the morning will depend on how the dyalisis goes . Early to bed and getting up early to pack it back up for the trip home. Who knows she may not be able to come. We still are having port problems. Operation last week was unsuccessful . We have to try again on the 10th .

Yep. Fridge in room at Hampton Inn in Sturbridge. I wouldn't swear every room has one though. So check. And, yes, I love included breakfasts at hotels. It's to hard to get Mrs. Bikerbozo out too early.
Keep in mind that ice packs can be given to front desks in any hotel to freeze for that full day of riding.

Just an FYI - the Super 8 is on Rt 20, directly across from Rt 131, where Jonesy wants to start the ride. The Hampton Inn is right on Rt 131, a short ways up from Rt 20. And Annie's Country Kitchen is also on Rt 131 - great breakfasts, but small area. :D

We have no confirmation except for me , spirit dream and a jonsey, biker bozo, who else is coming for sure.

Super8 has fridge and breakfast, large parking lot and is $85 compared to $125 at Hampton Inn. My wife ate at that Annies for breakfast, said it was great, O'brians down the street is good too for dinner. As far as on the road by 8 goes, I have heart problems and heat bothers me real bad so I ride earlier when ever I can when its cooler out. Any one have a preference in Newport or Mystic, I just think Newport would interest people more.

Cheri,

Does anyone live in the area of the Super 8 Motel, so they can speak to them about getting a block of rooms for the rally. I am sure they would, because it brings business.
Most of the time they will give you a better price for a block. John said we should have about 10 trikes coming, does that sound about right?
If someone does call ask for parking lot rooms so we can park the trikes in front of our rooms. By the looks of the Super 8, they would have plenty of parking lot rooms available. Also, they may ask for a special code to get the lower price for the rooms, so tell them-Trike Rally when someone calls for reservations.
As of right now, I will be attending the rally. as soon as I hear about a possible block of rooms at the Super 8, then I will make reservations.

While I don't have any definite jobs that bring me by Sturbridge, it's always possible. At which point I can stop by and talk to hotel. Are we talking 2 nights wherever everyone wants to stay? Are most people planning on Friday night? Parking does look good at Super 8. Don't know anything about rooms. I have gotten spoiled through work at Hampton Inns.

You can always try for a block of rooms at the Hampton inn too. Looks like 6 at least. Could be 10, I can not keep tract. Reason I wanted the list made.

We are trying to get a number of people going to the New England rally. Please send me an e-mail to the below address if you are planning on attending and include the number of nights, and number of people attending.
Also include if you are going to buy a rally Tee shirt for you and your rider and what sizes. They will men's sizes, so ladies please take this in count when ordering. They should be in the ball park of $8-10 each.

John, who else should get a copy of the results of the number of people going?

Thanks!

Rosy, I'll swing by the Super 8 this week and ask about a block of rooms for us. Not sure I can get a discount since there aren't very many of us, but hopefully I can at least get them to hold some rooms at ground level. Will let you know soon!

Combing through the posts in both threads, I found the following:

Confirmed attending:
Spiritdream (motel room not needed)
John Luciano +1
Jonesy +1
Rosy +1
Leo3wheel +1

Possible:
Bikerbozo +1
Bruce +1
Kerr88
Tis
NYTriker
Viper
Suga
Steamer
kkaykk
Ladyff1481 +1 (doubtful, unless her work schedule has changed since Americade)

I will ask the Super 8 about holding a block of 8-10 rooms for our group, but it would really help if the "Possible" attendees could confirm here, and let Rosy know about tshirts.
