RPM

I just would use some caution drifiting down to 2500 and then trying to accelerate while in 6th gear

Is that just when pulling a trailer, Dsocko? I have been accerlerating from 2,000 RPMs in 6th gear with 103"er. Is that too low? That's usually just Ma and me, no trailer.

I'm with trikermutha. 2500/3000 is just about perfect. Of course if I need to accelerate quickly, I'll down shift. ThumbUp

What RPM do you feel comfortable with?

If your on dead level ground and feed it throttle slow you can do it, this is with or without a trailer. If you need to accelerate quickly or up a grade your best bet is to drop it down a gear. Getting down to 2,000 in 6th and then trying to accelerate can punish the crankshaft.

That's interesting. I thought that the computer controlled throttle-by-wire would allow you to accelerate from 2000 rpm in 6th without worries, unlike a carburated engine. But if your running a stock set-up, downshifting is necessary if you hope to gain any speed when you twist your wrist.

It'll let you accelerate, depending on how loaded and the grade is how pretty or ugly the acceleration will be. When you hear the engine chugging is when your pushing it to hard and a down shift is in order.
