Handicap Question

Thanks Annie !

I think I have tag with my signature on it tho.
Or
A plate that attach's.

I will be finding out tomorrow and let you folks know how it
went.

Not sure if in Iowa just the symbol will work or not.

Thanks gang!

I have vanity plated on my trike, so tags were not an option. I have a 2001 ultra trike. On the bike I have a windshield bag, for glassed and gloves, and things of that nature. What we did was to take my blue card and have it laminated. We used Office Depot for that. They offer different weight laminates for different jobs. I chose the heaviest one that was offered. Trimmed it down with an edge on the side. Left a tab on there, punched a hole in it and placed it between the windshield bag and the windshield. The center bolt of the windshield goes through the hole in the tab of your plate and holds it into place. If someone wants it, there going to get it. Trick is to make them work for it. Since they are thieves anyway, and therefor inherently lazy, they will not work to steal yours, and will move on to an easier target.

This has been a great thread keep posting folks. ThumbUp

I hope it helps others as it has for me, got my
plates yesterday. they had 2 left .

I also ordered the stickers for the front windshield
yesterday that Annie posted about. THANKS!

We have 7 bikes/trikes. Three of them have handicapped plates, 1 has an antique plate and Momma's three do not carry handicapped plates. I got the first handicapped vanity plate ever issued in Virginia. Took almost a year of arguing with DMV and the threat of a class-action suit, but they finally relented. Back then I only had one bike, the 66 HD below. My trike tag is handicapped and is a vanity also (MY 3XS) since it is an FLHXXX. Still shocks people when I park a two wheeler in a handicapped space; have had more than one "upright" citizen (and a LEO or two) argue with me.

This picture was taken right after I got the 2005 Nightrain..... The NO NDN is one of Momma's bikes. Her 2003 Scout carries "INJUN" and her Storm trike is just as-issued numbers. She decided she did not want another vanity plate.

Firmly believe in using available options, but not mis-using them.

Hey Cougar, what kit do you have on your RSV? Do you have reverse? What front tire are you using? My sister and brotherinlaw have RSV's (2007 & 2008) and starting to think trike.

Hi Randy,, The Kit is Hannigan,, I use a rear same size tire on the front for better wear, and I also do not see any need for a reverse. they roll with ease
when triked. you can add it one day for about 1200 or so.
give me a call anytime if you need any help or more questions answered

Here in Oregon you can get a sticker to put on your bike (Or trike) that is keyed to your drivers license. They put the last four digits of your DL on the sticker. Easy to get just ask and they mail it to you. The state will not, however, issue you two placards. So if you have two cars you use you have to switch from one to the other. No license plats either.

I first laminated the card and then put two 1 inch screws with nuts on both sides of the card and close it in the tour pak with the screws inside. It rests on the passenger backrest. It will not pull out

Before I was given the Permanent Disability status I had just the standard hang in the window. So to avoid loosing it to theft etc I made a copy that was then covered in plastic coating. Written on the copy big and bold was "Original locked in trunk". The copy hung from my fairing. Had zero problems with that set up.

Now I have the plate. Use the card in Vehicles.

The problem we have here is the the the act of making a copy of the badge is a criminal offence. The badge has double holograms to prevent copying.

I think it's because there is a difference in parking arrangements here, much less off street parking. On street parking is expensive and heavily policed, disabled badge holders get reduced and often free parking. The badge also allows holders free access to the central London charge zone free of charge. This means he badges have a significant financial value.

I have a Harley trike. I took my placard and had it laminated. I took and cut around the card leaving a tab that I put a hole through. Unscrewed the center screw of my windshield, placed it behind the windshield, between the faring and the windshield, replaced the screw. Have had one on there for 9 years, never had it come up missing yet. Good luck.

I was going to get a handicap plate for the bike ,but here in Missouri they want you to give up one of your placards to get a plate. No matter for a bike or car, you can only have 2. With all the cars we have i need more placards not fewer.
