New auxiliary tank system

This week I started my auxiliary tankl system. Sunday I pulled the running boards and body to get access to the frame. From there I built the tank & gathered up the needed components; wiring, hoses, electrical, etc.
Yesterday I finished it up. Attached are some of the pics I took after completion. The system I use is a completely seperate system from the main bikes system. Each has its own fuel filter and fuel pump. It's controled by a relay and fuel shutoff solenoid. Either one can be used much like dual tank systems on trucks.
Next project before reinstalling the body work is build a hitch assembly.

Did I ever tell you how much I LOVE the Carbon_One Aux Fuel Tank? :)
Looking great Larry.. Get the HOLE in that brand new body drilled yet? :gah:

Nope. I measured several times :xzqxz: so once I have the body back on I'll mark the holes location and have at it. Seriously don't think there'll be a problem.

Some curiosity questions?
1. what's the capacity
2. is it baffled
3. why did you use a side fill instead of coming in from the top

My aux tank is baffled and fills from the top so I can utilize it full capacity of 5 gallons. It seems like you've lost at least a gallon. I've never seen an aux tank with a fill in that location.

Like I said, just curious. :wave4:

Capacity is 5 gals plus. I had a full 5 gal can of gas for a snowblower I dumped in. That amount brought the fuel up to the bottom edge of the fill tube.
There are two baffles welded inside the tank.

The reason for the fill location is the cap is located in the valley behind the high part of the fender. With measurements I've taken I should be able to bring the fuel level up another 2-3". After adding the flip top cap the cap will be about a 1/2' higher than the tank itself. I posted a pic of a body back on and cap in place. I may have made the tank taller than neccassary but that just gives more room for venting. Cougar may chim in here on what his tank capicity is.

Mine is 5.3 if I really work the pump :) Hey did ever tell anybody how much I love my Aux tank? ;-) ANYWAYS I normally just put in about 4.5 or so if the day is HOT I had one time I was on a sideways incline and the fuel decided to want to come out the cap .
That was only one time though. I was park in a very strange spot with a full tank.

I can squeeze 7.2 Gallons in ours :p

My tank is the prototype upon which all the others are built. The final production design was altered for ease of build and final installation, hence the slightly smaller capacity. The system works flawlessly and we have never experienced any fuel loss through either the filler cap or vent line.

YMMV

The deed is done. LOL Body is back on and now turning my attention back to lighting. The white stuff in the pics is fiberglass dust from cutting the whole.

Larry, I'm looking and wondering about the new reverse gear. In the pictures it sure looks thin, and could come apart at a high speed.

I have seen it first hand and don't think it's a concern. The gear appears to be a starter ring gear adapted from an automotive application. There is a protective skid plate (not in photo) guarding the ring gear from road debris and damage.

Ya to what Ragtop is saying. While the ring gear appears flimsy its everything but. You can't flex it by hand anyhow. and as Jay says the protective skid bar assembly should do the job of protecting it.

BTW: I had it up to 80 mph once on a short 70 mile ride the day after I picked it up and couldn't feel any vibrations from the driveline.
