Uh Oh!
The front fork air adapter fittings Hawg Halter sent me are worthless.
They say its the only kit they make for their tripple trees and dont stock any others and i am going to have to figure out how to adapt it myself.
They said it's easy but don't tell you how!

I have an air crossover manifold ( an alumininum tube) that used to attach to the top of the forks.
It has ground wires attached and also holds and operates the anti dive solinoid.
It is imparative these parts remain.

I don't know how people are adapting this with the phoney fittings hawg halter sent. It sure won't work on my bike!

(I would like to know how you folks went about adapting the air system?)

Perhaps i may have an idea to adapt my system with a bushing screwed down on top of the fork tubes, their are a few threads left) and using the original drilled bolt and washer to go throuh the manifold and screw into the bushing, but i need to know what is the diameter of the fork extension tube threads that screw into the upper tripple trees?
( And what TYPE of THREADS they are? )

I anyone knows it would save me some hassle
The dumb fittings they sent me are for a 1998-2001. Mine is a 1989

I built my own anti dive air conversion system. It took a might creativity.
And a good dose of frustration on my part.

The system is still holding air after sitting all night so i think it will work just fine.
with a guage on it i can bounce the front end end and the pressure remains the same so the anti-dive is working right.
I can hear the solinoid click when i turn on the ignition so thats a good sighn.

I have the front end back together and am ready for the rear kit.
I probably need a break for my health, but once it get my teeth into something it's hard to quit.

I expected the kit to arrive while i was in canada.
I wonder if they had to build a truck to haul it?

Paul,
According to Champion your kit was shipping the day you left for Canada or maybe it was the next day, don't remember now but thats what Lusmary told me when I called. I will give Bill Swift a call Monday AM and see whats up. Not sure but I have a feeling it might have something to do with all the snow in your area??? At any rate I will have an answer on Monday.

Hello from Dallas Ga. A cage took my two wheels out from under me, almost my foot also. I'm fighting to keep my foot and leg, have had 6 surgeries, two of them from staph infection caught in January 2013 surgery. My bones from my knee down are bolted together and a plate to hold all the small pieces together. Infection docs say the metal has to come out, the ortho doc is scared to take it out, so im on antibiotics for the long haul I guess. Doc says hes not sure if I can hold up a bike, passenger and my self if I had to. VWMANIAC built me the trike base I have right now, but due to not being able to work or any money coming in, there it sits till its finished.

that looks like a wild ride.

Folks in cages have long been our detriment. Finances a hardship for most of us.

It's not like it used to be when i really wanted something i could just work a little more to gain it.
It takes time to save aenough to finish our rides but it gives us something to do and something to look forward to and thats the key to recovery.
I wish you all the best and god speed on recovery.

Great day!
I finally got the raked triple trees on my bike, every thing works to my satisfaction.

You don't want to hire me to do yours because I'm slow as hell.
It took me two weeks.

I think i ripped the oxygen hose out of my nose enough times that the skin became raw and my nose bleeds every time it happens now.
My friend joked he was going to duct tape the oxygen hoses to my head.

( I really hate that guy.) We have been friends for 35yrs. and i know that he just might do it too?

He has helped me with the rake kit every step of the way (even though he is in his mid seventys now) and i'm using his shop to boot.
Every time one of us has to get up from the floor or off a rolling stool it sounds like a hospital ward complete with the grunts, creaks, moans and various barnyard noises?

Arthritis is painful as oppossed to altzimers, wich me may both have before this conversion is over.

He rides a 2011 tri glide.
I'm just waiting on the back end kit which i hope, should ship next week.

You can see the mess i made at

pcombe's Library | Photobucket.

You can't see all the blood from bleeding knuckles etc. unless you look real hard.
My dogs are licking their chops constantly, I'm afraid to have them sleep in bedroom with me.

I beleive we have gone through a full box of band aids on this front end.
Perhaps in our conditions we may have to start making that the gauge of every project we undertake?

I can Here it now?
(" Oh sure i will help you with that project Paul, that only sounds like a three bandaid box job to me!)

nice to hear from you Nana:

I only have two on my hands this morning.
Rest assured that if someone were to steal my uncompleted trike, There is enough DNA to prove ownership!

You may, mistake a close up satelight photo of my hands for a map of Greater Berserkistan?

I would invite you to jump over to: pcombe's Library | Photobucket.
And see what i have been up to?

Howdy. I lost my left leg last year. I'm getting my 2007 FLHT triked and should have it back in a few weeks to start my 3 wheel adventure. A couple of years ago I saw a guy at Bikeweek in Daytona Beach wearing a "COBB" patch on his jacket. It stands for Crippled Old Biker Bastards. The guy told me it's a club for riders that had significant motorcycle injuries and continue to ride. I thought it might be interesting to start a group for one legged bikers. The patch could be "COOL Biker" which stands for "Crippled Old One Legged Biker." There could be two chapters, AKA and BKA. The club motto could be Eddie Murphy"s quote from the movie Trading Places, "How'd you like a stump up your ass." Hey, if you're going to lose a major body part, you might as well have some fun with it.

Howdy Dennis and welcome to Trike Talk. You are anong folks that get it. We are amputees, arthritics, survivors of bad backs, strokes, and other diseases. We are glad you are with us.

Hell Denis you will fit right in!

Wellcome to the finest bunch of missfit toys in the world of trikedom.

Cancer and a botched surgery took my two wheels . Patricia gave my bike back to me with the third wheel. I have surgery (reconstruction) in April 2013 which " God willing " will get me back to as much as 85% of what I was but still will not be able to handle the two up big bikes with out the third wheel. Happy to be alive !
Bill
Bill:
I wanted to inquire about how the re-construction surgery went and to ask if you are recouperating ok?
I hope, that you have attained the 85 percent expected and surpassed that goal.
Get on your wheels soon, as that seems to make me a little stronger in all my broken places.

Paul

Well my story isn't much different from the others. My accident happened when a high cube van in front of me locked his brakes down at the last minute for a stopped car forcing me to lay my 2 wheeler down at 65 mph. After flipping 105 feet down the asplalt needless to say I was pretty busted up. My bike was totaled, and 8 surgeries later to replace both knees, repair a shattered elbow, 8 broken ribs with internal bleeding, and then a staff infection I am now riding again on 3 wheels this time. I was about to give up riding when I heard about a TRIKE RALLY in Maggie valley NC and rode over to see a Honda Goldwing Bazooka had for sale however it didnt fit me and he suggested TRIKING my VTX 1800 that I had bought back from the insurance company. After installing a Champion trike kit and a few other toys i'm riding again.
I'm just glad the surgeon (a family friend) didn't listen to my wife when he asked her what do you want to do with him and her reply was "lets just put him down"

One year ago today i woke up out of a four day comma after a series of massive heart attacks.
I came out of it to face a world where i have congestive heart failure and COPD.

I had about givin it up and wondered why i was allowed to stay alive?

Today i have the answer.

I had a trike to build!
