I must say that I didn't think much of the Spyder .... till testerday,
I was shopping at a local dealer and saw a Spyder up close for the 1st time and all I can say is WOW!!!! them suckers are big!!! I could not believe how big those suckers were, grinnn. Looks bigger than a Goldwing or a HD trike,
So good luck to all who own one and have a great ride on them,

When I ride my TriGlide, I feel like I'm sitting in it. I rode a Spyder and it felt like I was sitting on a log with my legs back under my butt. I was really uncomfortable. Maybe the new ones are better.
Ride on.

You probably rode the RS (sport model). The model more comparable to your Tri Glide is the RT (touring model). We looked at the RS model for my wife and did not like the seating, handlebar and foot peg arrangement. Too much like a sport bike. So many RS owners modified those 3 things in the 4 year history of the RS model that Can-Am came out with a sport touring model for 2013, in short a sport model with comfortable seating, handlebar placement and foot boards (among other mods). Much more comfortable.

As I still own an Ultra Classic I find the RT model is similarly comfortable in seating and handlebar placement for the rider.

Haven't replaced the footpegs for foot boards yet, but soon. My wife likes the rear seat in the RT, says it wraps around and cradles her better than the 'Glide. It is fun riding both - each takes a distinctive riding style. I do not take the wife with me on two wheels any longer due to strength issues from a minor stroke. I still get out on the 'Glide occasionally - each bike has it's purpose.
Enjoy the ride!

998 But in Can Am's infinite logic, They call it a 990
They also call the gas tank a 6.6 gal, When you'll be hard pressed to get 6 gal in it,

In all fairness, Can Am isn't the first or only new vehicle whose advertised engine displacement isn't exact. In fact, it is quite common to do so.

As regards fuel tank capacity, Typically a small quantity of fuel remains in the tank even with the gauge reading empty.

I agree , The reason i mentioned they call it a 990, ''If i said it was 990 someone would post back you're wrong it's a 998.
Also i had a Spyder for 3+ years, From dry as in it stop running all it will take is 6 gal, And that's filling it right to the top, Which is not recommend, Because you'll ruin [flood] the charcoal canister.
