I came off of a 2011 Electra Glide Ultra Classic and now am the proud owner of a 2013 Tri Glide. I had a lot of parts that I was able to salvage from the Ultra but one which MOCO said I couldn't use was my Drivers Backrest Mounting Kit, part #52589-09 which only costs $40.00 bucks. Instead MOCO said I had to use the Adjustable Drivers Backrest Mounting Kit that costs $220.00 bucks plus I would have to buy a new Driver's Backrest to boot.

I decided to see if my non-adjustable Drivers Backrest Mounting Kits could be adapted to the Tri Glide frame. To my surprise, the Tri Glide frame already has the holes drilled and tapped so that my Mounting Kits was a direct bolt-on without any modifications.

I mounted the Kit and then put on my Reduced Reach Seat, #52619-08A and the seat slot and mounting slot lined up perfectly. I attached the drivers backrest and it sits right where I want it. Note that I have the Mounting Kit installed in its furthest forward position. There's plenty of backward installation movement available.

I then removed my Reduced Reach Seat and mounted the Stock Seat. Again the alignment of the Drivers Backrest and the Mounting slot line up perfectly for my use.

I'm sure MOCO has its reason for not indicating that this Drivers Backrest Mounting Kit 52589-09 does not fit the Tri-Glide. Probably that area of the frame isn't as beefy as that of the Ultra Glide. Mine fits, its solid and works for me.

I've read where a couple of people have said that the mount for the non-adjustable backrest should fit the TriGlide even though the Harley book says it won't. Unfortunately, I believed the book and parts salesman and bought the adjustable one, which is a complete waste of money since I never change it once I've got it set where I want. Wish I had known about this before. Now that I've seen photos and how it mounts, I'm going to let the dealership parts staff know the book is wrong.....again!!! Seem to happen a lot with the TriGlide.

Thanks for verifying what others said.

I took the non adjustable backrest off my 2008 Ultra Classic and installed it on my 2012 TriGlide. No problems with fit or function.

I found that the only issue for me on using the NON adjustable mount was that if you want to run WITHOUT the backrest on that the bracket sticks up above the seat - which is fine if you keep the backrest on ALL the time.
For myself I like the option of having it on for trips and then removing it when running around locally.
I just returned from a 2500 mile trip to New Mexico and thoroughly enjoyed it (with my Harley Hammock seat + adj. backrest).

Are you using an aftermarket seat or the oem? I used the oem, then went with the HD Road Zepplin, didn't have that problem with either.
Ride on.
