All you Harley owners with Champion kits and ABS

I have talked to the sales rep's and engineers at Champion and from that I don't think that anything from Champion supports ABS brakes. They have told me that ABS is not needed. I picked up my kit from the factory which is only about 90 miles north of me in Garden Grove. Without changing the ABS computer/reprogramming it you cannot adapt current 2 wheel ABS on a trike and have a true ABS system. On a trike you need to have an input from each wheel to the computer to have a ABS system. The Can_Am's have a three wheel ABS system.

Ray, I would say you've never been in a situation on wet roads when the front wheel locked up on you on a trike... If you have, you'll truly understand the value of ABS on anything made! Motorcycles and trikes with ABS function much like the cars of the "early abs age".. In the beginning, abs worked as a front/rear set up.. Only high end autos had true 4 wheel ABS until the last 10 years approximately when most manufacturers went to a true 4 wheel abs system.

ABS on a trike conversion splits the abs system to a front/rear system, which most importantly, prevents front wheel lock-up. If you've ridden a trike you know how hazardous locking the front wheel in a situation can be, ESPECIALLY if you're trying to steer while it's sliding.
 
Not a Harley here, but a response from Road Smith on the Wing conversion....

ABS is disabled. Basically the computer in the bike doesn’t understand that there are 2 wheels in back and 1 up front, and can’t communicate to all 3. The braking system is separate after the conversion, right hand operates front brake, right foot operates rear brakes, and the brake line is split going to both rear brakes.
 
I have to admit that I've never been in a situation where my front wheel locked up on a wet hiway. I'm the guy in control of my front brake, if it locks up, it's my fault. Yep, ridden a lot of wet hiways :).

I don't have any ABS functions now. My ABS is disabled. I pulled the fuses when I installed the trike. CSC and Motor Trike both claim to have ABS but I don't think that it is true ABS. From what I have seen is one sensor on the rear drive which depending on brakes could have one wheel locked up and the other wheel turning. For it to be true ABS you need a sensor on each wheel and a ABS computer with three inputs.
