Hi to all...I am wondering if anyone can recommend installing a Superbrace on the forks for a GL1500 Coupe Motor Trike? Good idea or not....

I put the Super Brace on my GL1800, and it made a real difference in the stability of the ride when in heavy curves. It also helped with front end stability when on rough roads.
I would deffinatly reccommend one.

Couple of years ago, we had a Superbrace installed on my '95 GL1500 at Americade. You could feel the difference immediately, seemed more "solid" at slow speed, and zero handle bar "shimmy" at high speed. We were so pleased with it, we went back the next day and had one installed on Barbara's '87 GL1200. She still talks about how much better it "feels" to her.

Welcome from Erin, Triker101. Am also looking at the super brace as the more you ride it the more you get to see how the trike reacts as apposed to you the rider just getting use to riding it.

I for one feel that there are additional benefits to installing a brace, number one would be alignment issues casing early fork bushing/seal wear.

We now have additional weight due to the kit and not to mention all the additional accessories/ bling we tend to install, oh and factor in mayhaps a trailer loaded with who knows what. We are using the original fork designed for 2 wheel riding and throwing all this extra weight around corners where we steer and not lean through the curves. Darn tootin the front end is gonna react differently. A brace of any description is going to make a difference to stabilize all that nasty stuff going on.

This will be my next investment.
Take care and if your ever down this way give me a holler.

Had a super brace for less than a month when it fell off at highway speeds. Unable to recover it. No damage done, though. Might suggest checking hardware after initial installation... Installer just shrugged and said too bad. Live and learn.

As mentioned earlier, mine was installed at the "SuperBrace booth" at Americade a few years back. It was installed by a young man who was the then owner of the SB company (maybe still is). I watched a little as he was installing it and remember thinking it was kind of a "no brainer". Subsequent to that, I installed one myself on my 1100 Shadow Spirit. I can't imagine how anyone could install one such that it fell off. It is beyond unbelievable.

I suggest you don't let that installer anywhere near your bike again.

Sorry, reread your initial post and the supplier installed this and said too bad. I need his company name and address . I am so tired of this crap. Ellen D is going to help me with this. Back in the day people stood behind their product /service. I am going through a lot of issues with my conversion as per my dealer and Motor Trike is not documenting any thing or willing to solve these issues and feel I am solving them on my own with no help from either (cause I can).

We are talking my personal safety and my partner.

I have found to many aberrations and erroneous set ups that I feel concerned to take my partner on a ride. I will go thru this trike piece by piece and make it right and this will be my last purchase by MT and Trike My Bike. Totally Disgusted

I posted in my Thread discussing the SUPER BRACE to re-check the Allen Bolts for a couple of long Rides after installing.I have one right now on my F6B Gold Wing 2-Wheeler Cruiser, and still carrying an Allen Wrench with me to check the bolts with. Never have loosened on it or the one I installed on the Trike, but have had them loosen ever so "slightly" on a couple of other Bikes I installed Them on....this will stop after it "seats in".....ThumbUp

Skuuter: You're right. I failed to read and heed. My bad, and I take responsibility for not doing my homework. It's the "don't look at me" vibe I got from the installer that compels me to find a new guy. Living in south-central (WI, not L.A.!) greatly limits my choices. No sizeable cities close to my rural home. If anyone could recommend a trusted service provider between Madison and the Fox Valley, I'd be grateful. And I will learn to "trust, but verify". So soon we get old and so late smart.

Who ever did the install could of killed some one if the dropped metal stuck some one or pierced a tire.......I think I would be on his case like stink on sh.. ! :xszpv:

No Problem, it happens to Everyone....."Most ANYTHING" that's bolted on to Something that sits in a "Flex and/or Twist Situation" needs to be periodically checked a few times after installation....even if it's torqued properly, re-checking is Great Insurance......ThumbUp
