Best Water Bottle Ever!

I'll have to check these out - but I've been using Thermos 16oz SS Hydration Bottles model 2465P and they have been doing a great job keeping beverages both Hot & Cold. A little pricey @ $19.99 but worth it. If you want to be overwhelmed - go to Thermos's web site. They have a huge selection there!! - Russ

10 years ago I bought a very similar mug at Target. They still have them. I will post a picture of it when I get home.
The lid pops up when you press a red tab and a completely rubber tube pops up as the cap flips back out of the way. It will keep anything cold or hot ALL DAY in 90* temps. We just had a week of 90+ temps here and the iced tea stayed ice tea all during the charity ride.
GoSlo is right about filling with ice - you don't need much. I carry 2 of these on my Trike. One in the handlebar cup holder and one in the little leather saddlebag on the fender.
A little while ago I got worried after I accidentally dropped the mug while riding.

Went back and all that was wrong was the thin plastic coating on the bottom 1" portion of the mug (mug is SS) was scratched up a bit, so I went back to Target and bought all the ones that were on the shelf (4). That's how much I love this cup. A friend of mind says they also have these mugs in pink and light blue for school kids because they are so indistructable. ThumbUp

Just looked at your pics. I'm not sure I like that handle, looks like it might block the forward view a little bit.
The mouth piece on mine is very soft rubber at a 90* angle so the bottle stays completely upright.
The mouthpiece and the lower tube are replaceable.

How many onces is that bottle??

Just looked at the previous pics. Not sure I like that handle - seems it would block the forward view a little. The mouth piece on my mug is very soft rubber and at an almost 90* angle so the mug stays completely upright. Hopefully my picture will be small enough to post on this forum.

I think they hold 22 ounces. The handle does stick up a bit, but if I turn it to the left side, I can see my fairing mounted GPS just fine. I saw someone this weekend with a shorter version.

Not sure what the make was, but I think it's the same. It held 18 ounces.

I'll see what I can find out about it and let you all know.

The colors I've seen so far are only on the lid and come in blue, yellow, green, and purple, with the body stainless or whatever they make it out of. The shorter one I was describing and will check on was completely black.

Thermos Funtainer 355ml Vacuum Insulated Hydration / Water Bottle - Double Wall Stainless Steel, BPA Free with drinking straw - Sports - Shop Naturally Healthy Households

This is as close to the one I have that I can find on google images. Untill I get home to take a pic of mine. Like I said mine hit the ground at about 45 mph. No damags other then scratches on the bottom plastic coating.

Mine has a square-ish push button instead of a round one and the graphics are different. Very easy to operate with one hand minus a finger.

BlueRibbon, how do you reach your bottle while riding??

Ok, I went to Costco today and bought the Contigo cold mugs. My wife didn't know what color she wanted so I bought all six!! I picked orange, wifey picked purple. I know I'm not supposed to be selling things in this thread BUT, I happen to have four EXTRA cold mugs. The colors are as follows: blue, yellow, aqua and green. These were $20.00 for the two pack plus 6% sales tax. That comes out to $10.60 each plus shipping. I don't know what shipping will be to you. Can let you know. If anyone has an interest PM me off site.

My e-mail is in my profile.
Thanks,

PM sent....will buy 'em if still available?

Wanted to share this with everyone that's looked far and wide for a water bottle that actually keeps your drinks cold.

The brand name is Contigo and can be found at Costco ($19.99 for two) or on the web. Was recommended by a friend and could not believe how well it works. They claim it will keep liquids cold for 20 hours and they aren't kidding...it really does.

Other great things about this bottle:
• It doesn't "sweat", so no water running down on the bike or blowing back at you
• It has a pop-up mouth piece that attaches to an internal straw that you sip from, so no more tipping your head up to get a drink

This is not for hot drinks, only cold. Also, don't put pop into the bottle. It tends to explode like a gyser when you open it up to drink.

Not affiliated with them or Costco, just wanted to share this info because I know people spend lots of money trying to find a water bottle that actually works.

Thanks for the info. Do you any product ID #'s? My Costco doesn't seem to carry these but I know I'll be able to find them on the net. Initial search found too many options. Would like to find the ones you have already tested.

Thanks, RC

Sorry, the box they came in is long gone now with the trash. If you're going to look for them on the internet, I wouldn't pay more than the $19.99 for two that Costco charges if at all possible. Maybe they can order them for you?

This (above) is NOT the water bottle he is talking about. In this ad, look at the bottle in the lower left corner, with the black & blue top. That is the bottle.

Yes, problem with hot liquid. And you can never put carbonated drinks in it, unless you want a shower! If you do, then when you open it, you will get sprayed quite well, with ever what is in the bottle!

They are great!! I carry two of them.

From the web site they say BJ's carries them in case you don't have a Costco in your area.

On the Thermos bottle you press down on the lid to close it not the mouthpiece(which is replacable).

The other one, Contigo with the handle, looks like you have to press down on the mouthpiece to close. Not very sanitary if you have dirty hands or gloves on.
I can only tell by the picture, if you have one, am I wrong about that?

You don't actually push on mouth piece to close it. There's a spot just below that you push on to close it. It looks small in the photos, but is actually easy to get to without thinking too hard.

I like the Thermos one you posted pictures of. Looks shorter than the Contigo one, which would be a plus and it sounds like to does the same thing....keeps liquids cold for a long time.

Skutter,
I'm not so good at posting pictures, so hopefull this works.

The first one is just the water bottle so you can see what it looks like.

The second one shows a "cut-a-way" view so you can see the double wall and the straw that attaches to the spout.

The third one shows a close up of the lid and spout. Pressing the white button, pops the spout up automatically. Just push it down to lock it in place and closed.

Not sure of the exact dimensions, but it doesn't block my view of the fairing mounted Garmin GPS.

THANKS for the Pics and Info.....ThumbUp

GoSlo, thanks, I see the black pad now. I think the Thermos is a lot easier to close because you have a bigger area to push on - the whole cap.
It is 12 oz. I would like a larger one - that's why I carry 2. I did try an 18 oz bottle once, but it was too top heavy for the BikerBouy holder I had at the time and it would turn over. I also carry another 18 oz bottle just for the extra liquid. I carry the extra Thermos and the 18 oz bottle in my fender saddlebags. I can go the whole day without refilling if I wanted to. ThumbUp
It also doesn't have a handle to get in the way....and the spout and inside tube are replacable. Mine came with an extra set.

I would think any double walled, SS, bottle would keep lquids cold for a very long time - I don't think Thermos has the market cornered on that.

:)

I will also remind you what others have said - DO NOT PUT CARBONATED LIQUIDS IN THE BOTTLE. I found out the hard way years ago. I got completely covered in Pepsi - not a pretty sight, but my traveling companions thought it was hilarious. :gah:

This may be a somewhat old thread but I have to thank GoSlo for the link. I just ordered a Contigo Shefield water bottle to replace the O2COOL non-insulated bottle that I have now. It works, but it gets warm fairly quickly. The Contigo should (I hope) keep water nice and cool on those long hot rides.
