2014 Triglide problems

I got my 14 TG back from the shop yesterday. They said they think the coolant didn't actually leak out or vaporize while I was running it. The working theory is that the system had an air pocket because they did not bleed it properly the last time they replaced the thermostat housing. They said they drained the system, replaced the fluid and ran it for a while. (A half a fuel tank for a while) I understand what they're saying and really hope that's all it was. Does this problem sound familiar to anyone?

I have owned many Harleys over the years and currently own three. My first Harley trike was an '09 Street Glide with a MotorTrike kit. I traded it this weekend on a '14 TriGlide. I only have 200 miles on it (all in Mississippi heat) and I love it. It is much cooler than my '07 Ultra with the 103 upgrade that I had to put Rush true dual headers on.

I have seen comments in other forums about the water cooling system. Can it not be ridden at all without the water coolant circulating?

maidsmerry, I can't say it can't be ridden without coolant circulating. But, the 2 times I had trouble with mine the dealer preferred to come get it rather than me ride it to them (15 miles) and do some serious motor damage. They may have wanted to era on the side of caution, which was fine with me.

They say you can and I don't see why not be able to ride without the water at least for a short distance. It's still an air cooled Harley engine. What problems can a few empty water passages do to it?

Unless Harley says don't ride it, I'll ride it to a dealer - or at least just put some water in it and ride to the dealer..

Re: 2014 Triglide problems spark plug wire

No recall yet on this, but I read in the Harley thread about front plug wire rubbing through the insulation on the edge of the gas tank. I checked mine (2014 Triglide) and sure enough, mine was worn more than 1/2 through (5K mi). I put plastic wire wrap over the wire and brought bike to HD dealer. Dealer says they have seen this problem on other 2014s. They are replacing under warranty, but not making any changes because no factory recall has been issued. I don't think it a good idea to have the plug wire sparking to the gas tank, but HD must think otherwise?

Thanks for the heads up, I checked mine yesterday and found it had been rubbing put a piece of Corrugated Loom Tubing on it so it should be good for now.

Yep, great bikes. Not a single problem.

Please don't listen to advice from those that have no experience with the product they are bashing. These folks are just bitter because of the experience they had with the earlier model TriGlides, not the 14s. I actually own a 2014 TriGlide and it is an awesome motorcycle. I have owned more Harleys than most on here, easily. Get a 2014 TriGlide and enjoy.

Couldn't be happier !!!

I had my water pump go out up in Canada for the National HOG rally in July. Neither dealer had one. They said just stay away from congestion - yea right - worst traffic in Ottawa in a 100 years (LaMacjhine was there also). :)

As long as I stayed on the highways back to Chicago I should be fine. Finally found a dealer in Niagara Falls who had a pump.

2 weeks ago my reverse motor bit the dust. I really abused that motor - amazing it's lasted this long. I've done things to it that should never be done. Never failed once in 4 years.

Thankfully I have the extended warranty = it's paid for itself many times so far and I have 3 more years to go.

I also love my '14 TG.
