southern Ohio

We are planning a short trip to the southern part of Ohio and would like to know what roads to ride when we are down there. We normally go to Tenn. and meet another couple but this year we have time constraints so we are meeting in the middle. We are from Mi. so any help would be helpful.

Ohio 7, along the Ohio River is great riding. Ohio 83 runs from the Ohio River all the way to Lake Erie, but is really beautiful up to Amish Country. US 250 is one I've ridden regularly and enjoyed. The Marietta, Zanesville and Chillicothe area have really nice countryside and good riding. Southern Ohio, especially southeastern Ohio, has beautiful hills and curvy roads. It's hard to go wrong... I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Nothing to exciting in southwest Ohio to speak of, Generally I think roads in Ohio at least SW, are one of worse roads around, Cracks, holes etc. With that being said I just skip across state line to Indiana or Kentucky. Anything along Ohio river a nice ride or open country roads. Enjoy!

SE Ohio is where I would concentrate, if I were you. Marietta has plenty of lodging and some nice restaurants. Personally, I love riding in the area south of I-70 and east of I-77.

The South of I-70 and East of I-77 is a good suggestion, but the area between I-71 and I-77 isn't bad at all. Get yourself South of Columbus towards Lancaster and you will be in the Hocking Hills and in the Wayne National Forest. If you want to make a run through Amish country, I'd travel 39, 60, or 62 till I got to 93 or 250 then I'd head South. The Amish are concentrated more in the mid North East part of the state in Wayne and Holmes counties. Watch out for the buggies!

I agree also with the SE of Ohio riding. I am from Michigan (SE) side and love riding along the Ohio river and then head south to the same areas. The hardest part for me is getting thru Toledo area first. I live by Telegraph road and head that way thru T town. Don't know of anyway else to get thru Toledo to get to those nice roads. Gas is usually cheaper in Ohio than Mi. also. Good luck and ride safe........:Coffee:ThumbUp

You know, I live in South Central Ohio and all the advice you have received so far is 'spot on'. I must admit my favorite state to rumble thru is Tennessee, second is Kentucky, third West Virginia, then Ohio, Indiana and so on. As you can see I dearly love the area starting in SE Ohio and going East and South I'll end up in East Tennessee. Traveling down the Blue Ridge Parkway is second to none, in my not so humble opinion (IMNSHO). But hey, I haven't traveled down near the highways that some of these folks have riden so I enjoy reading their answers as much as the next guy. <br />

I mean after all, its a Trike and road time. Doesn't get much better.
