USPS Needs Ammo!!! ????

The postal service has postal inspectors. This is the postal law enforcement section. They are trained LEO's and require arms and ammo. Nothing unusual about buying new weapons to replace those at or near their service limit and ammo for duty and training.
Those officers get envolved in some dangerous situations while investigating postal laws being broken.

I wonder where they are going to sell those old worn out guns . with the amount of fire fights those guys get into those guns cant be worth much.

Make no mistake, mailmen have a very dangerous job and need protection.
Unnamed Gov't sources say the ammo purchase stemmed from this incident:

Massive USPS ammo purchase totally justified, right? :LordHelp:

I know you are having a little fun, so for those that are unaware:
Postal carriers are not armed, except for animal spray. As for the used weapons, they are usually traded for the replacements. the old ones may be refurbished and resold or if needed, discarded.

I'll say this with a touch of "treading lightly". WITHIN REASON, I think this is justifiable, ESPECIALLY in rural and country areas. My mother was a delivery courier for many years way out in the country. They are required to use personal vehicles for mail delivery, and more than once she was put in a position where being able to legally carry a firearm would have been a blessing. Most people think of those "in town" who use USPS provided delivery vehicles when stuff like this is mentioned; but the great majority of route couriers are rural, use their own vehicles, and are often put in a precarious or potentially dangerous situation.

I know several who, in the country, carry their own firearm for protection (although it's illegal for them to do so).

If I were a rural mail carrier, I would be carrying too... that makes perfect sense in many areas.... But that is not why I posted this... I have an old friend who has been an armed postal inspector for 28 years. He has never pulled his gun once in that 28 years and does not know any other inspector that has either. However, by his own admission, he has fired off thousands and thousands of rounds and replaced several guns worn out from target practice using taxpayer $$$. There are now over 70 federal gubmint angencies that are armed at taxpayer expense...and many of them are essential of course. But how many are not, and why are they all gearing up more and buying more ammo than ever???

This has truly become an Insane, Unpredictable & VERY Dangerous World we all live in. That is a Fact regardless of Location, Vocation, Indoctrination, Inclination, or Detractor Obfuscation. Given that unfortunate yet Undeniable Truth, the immediate & effective Means to Protect, Defend, and Fight for Oneself and those in One's care IS an Absolute Necessity as well as a Constitutional (and Basic Human) Right. Neither the Necessity nor the Right is diminished or increased by "Who" We The People "Are" or "Do". The Wheres, Whys and Hows are equally as inconsequential.
Now, More than EVER-Keep & Bear and Be Prepared.

And your point of view, I can honestly say I have zero "debate" with. I think there should be "limits" placed on "refresher courses", training, cost, and overal expense as a result. I can see directing funds to our military men and women in combat to keep them sharp, and trained.

But, I do disagree with the same "training standard" applying to those who have little to no history of EVER having to use their firearm.

My favorite comic.. Day by Day... started a series about this USPS thing a coupla days ago...you can hit the "next" button to look at yesterdays and todays strip too which are also great. The guy that does this comic is on top of it..
Consider the fact the Feds usually qualify 4 times a year.
That is a min of 200 to 400 rounds per pistol per person per year.
I have no idea how many LEOs they have nationwide.

And I think the Highway Patrolman across the alley
said they shoot about the same.

Now, Congresswoman Lee wants the USPS to have check cashing abilities in the inner cities. Now we know why they need the ammo.

Hmmm,,, Let's think about that for a sec....
Just another Tax Confiscation Wealth Distribution Program.
USPS will cash Checks from the "Inner City".
U.S. Gubmint will undoubtedly be "backing" (providing the Cash)
U.S. Gubmint gets its Cash from Tax Confiscations of the Working Class.
USPS takes OUR Money from the Gubmint and gives it to Inner City Denizens for an IOU (Check-which I'm sure is going to clear ).
Check bounces to Outer Space (bet the Default Rate somewhere around 80% or better).
Inner City Person just got Interest Free Grant from OUR wallets with no Repayment (gonna collect from Them? Hell,,, never even find them much less get the Cash Back).
Welfare Socialist Wealth Redistribution at its finest/worst.
Not to mention the Cash it takes to administer the additional Welfare Program and the New Federal Agency Employees required. USPS is Bankrupt so that is coming from US & OUR Money too.

Bend Over again America.... Brace ya'selves

Didn't say it was GOING to happen,,,
Just what WOULD happen IF it did....

Just sharing Observations and Thoughts here.
No Portent of Armageddon here.
Things are just Peachey without your Tinfoil but thanks for the kind offer none the less ThumbUp
