Roadsmith Unveils New Indian Trike at V-Twin Dealer Expo

White Bear Lake, MN (February 10, 2014) – Roadsmith Trikes unveiled the industry’s first new Indian trike conversion at this year’s V-Twin Dealer Expo in Cincinnati this past weekend. While certainly not new to the business of creating trike conversions for the Indian brand, Roadsmith is pleased to be the first trike company to offer a conversion kit for the new Polaris-based Indians introduced at the Sturgis Rally last year. This is Roadsmith’s third version of an Indian trike (having designed trike conversions for all of the previous iterations of the Indian brand) and, given the initial reception of the motorcycle, it appears this will be the Indian brand that’s going to be around for a very long time.

Roadsmith’s new Indian trike, like the motorcycle itself, promises to be an instant success. A world-class touring motorcycle, coupled with Roadsmith’s 42-year history of building high-quality, independent rear suspension trike conversions, combines to deliver a stylish, new trike that should quickly prove to be one of the company’s top sellers.

Unique styling and incredible performance are the hallmarks of the new Indian brand and these will not be lost on the trike version. Taking its styling cues from the Indian’s iconic, curvaceous fenders, the new Roadsmith Indian Trike looks as if it slipped out of the same time machine as the motorcycle itself. Adding Roadsmith’s proven, silent, electric reverse, while retaining the bike’s ABS braking system, promises complete control of the trike, no matter which direction the rider is headed.

The more i look at this trike the more i think about how i would want it. I love the new Indian bikes and do not want to tear them up but if i was going to buy a Indian trike it would have to have some changes. I do not care for the fairing as it looks like it is supposed to be on some other bike, the passenger foot pegs are ugly and look cheap and the passenger seat needs a back rest if you ride two up, but looks nice for a single rider. the front end looks good but the back end a little too boxy for a curvacious Indian and the tail lights are horrible looking for this trike. As more and more trike kit builders get involved with the Indian i am sure we will see different styles and changes and maybe Indian will build their own. I realize this is the first one available and am just giving my personal opinion about it, not wanting to start a war as i would own a Indian if they did not make Harleys.

As far as the new Roadsmith unit for the Indian, my first observation (other then it needing rider and passenger backrests and a possible tour pack), in my opinion, it should have wire spoked wheels and white walled tires!

Go to the Indian website and take a look at their Vintage model. Those wire wheels and white wall tires just go with that nostalgic style! ThumbUp

as a Harley man, I am ashamed to admit it , but I really like the look. I agree the faring is not right for the style but I love the fender skirts. ThumbUp

If you're into nostalgia and love the looks of yester-year (as I am), you just can't go wrong with the Indian style!

Those fender side skirts, flowing body lines, wire wheels with white wall tires and the sound of that new motor makes you feel as if you've been transported back in time. Well,,,, at least that's my story,, LOL :laugh:

I think the fairing strays to far from the old style concept myself.<br />

I guess they either don't offer that option or they're possibly still designing one.
