I have been off the board and out of touch for a bit as my wife and I had a small accident on our trike and it has been in a repair shop since the accident. Probably will be coming home this week.
We rode down to Victoria Texas for Mother's Day weekend... turned out to be a soggy ride in a torrential rain. Took about twice as long as it should due to the bad weather and when we got there, we were trying to locate our motel. Stopped in a service station for directions and when pulling out into the main drag, pulled safely across the road into the center turn lane waiting for traffic flow and a guy in an SUV came from across the street and hit us in the right front quarter as we were sitting still. BTW... Victoria police don't fill out an accident report unless you have to have the vehicle towed or there has been an injury that requires a ride on the bus to a hospital. The guy who hit us said he never saw us. Wasn't raining and was still day light and I thought he had eye contact with us... just can't say. ANYWAY, we were not hurt and the trike was still rideable.
After we returned home the next week, I found a "Goldwing Specialist" on the other side of San Antonio and put together all the parts needed... mostly the main fairing and lower, the trim around the radiator, the engine guard (replaced both) and the corning light as well as the main headlight assembly. I was able to buy all these parts from an excellent salvage place up in Dallas. While getting the parts and getting them painted with pearl sonoma green, I had the belts changed and a general tune up done. I think everything is mostly together and the paint shop wants the trike in to final sand the clear and rub it out so like I said, we should see the trike this weekend. We missed the bit of good riding season and rides this year from this point will be limited a bit due to triple digit temps rolling on us.
I have also purchased a cover for my seat from a company in Poland and they do a sweet job. Hopefully it will look good when installed... will get on this when I get the trike back. PS... have Progressive Insurance and they have been outstanding. Quickly came out and gave me a very reasonable check for the repairs in a couple days. The other company admitted fault and I even got my deductible back. The adjuster knew bikes and recompensed me for the broken highway floorboards; I think they were Markland but definitely obsolete and gave me the price for new KuryAkyn stuff... he knew where all the online pricing and catalogs were.... I was impressed. The gal handing the claim kept me up to date through the whole thing.
