I have been off the board and out of touch for a bit as my wife and I had a small accident on our trike and it has been in a repair shop since the accident. Probably will be coming home this week.

We rode down to Victoria Texas for Mother's Day weekend... turned out to be a soggy ride in a torrential rain. Took about twice as long as it should due to the bad weather and when we got there, we were trying to locate our motel. Stopped in a service station for directions and when pulling out into the main drag, pulled safely across the road into the center turn lane waiting for traffic flow and a guy in an SUV came from across the street and hit us in the right front quarter as we were sitting still. BTW... Victoria police don't fill out an accident report unless you have to have the vehicle towed or there has been an injury that requires a ride on the bus to a hospital. The guy who hit us said he never saw us. Wasn't raining and was still day light and I thought he had eye contact with us... just can't say. ANYWAY, we were not hurt and the trike was still rideable.

After we returned home the next week, I found a "Goldwing Specialist" on the other side of San Antonio and put together all the parts needed... mostly the main fairing and lower, the trim around the radiator, the engine guard (replaced both) and the corning light as well as the main headlight assembly. I was able to buy all these parts from an excellent salvage place up in Dallas. While getting the parts and getting them painted with pearl sonoma green, I had the belts changed and a general tune up done. I think everything is mostly together and the paint shop wants the trike in to final sand the clear and rub it out so like I said, we should see the trike this weekend. We missed the bit of good riding season and rides this year from this point will be limited a bit due to triple digit temps rolling on us.

I have also purchased a cover for my seat from a company in Poland and they do a sweet job. Hopefully it will look good when installed... will get on this when I get the trike back. PS... have Progressive Insurance and they have been outstanding. Quickly came out and gave me a very reasonable check for the repairs in a couple days. The other company admitted fault and I even got my deductible back. The adjuster knew bikes and recompensed me for the broken highway floorboards; I think they were Markland but definitely obsolete and gave me the price for new KuryAkyn stuff... he knew where all the online pricing and catalogs were.... I was impressed. The gal handing the claim kept me up to date through the whole thing.

We are so glad that you and Claudia came through unhurt. Sounds like things are being taken care of and you'll be riding again, soon. Best wishes and God bless...

Welcome back George!! So glad to hear you guys weren't injured. Accidents like that can get UGLY in a hurry!!! I'm also glad Progressive treated you well. I had a couple claims with them over the years and never had any issues.

I missed most of he spring riding season also. The knee is pretty well healed. Made the ride to Eureka Springs and back home with very little pain so I'm pretty sure it's close to healed.

Hey, didn't I remember you having a dark green GL1500? What's this about an 1800 in you profile??? Was that a wishful typo.. :xszpv::xszpv:

Glad it turned out well for you. I was involved in an accident several years ago with a gal who had USAA and that company was hard to deal with. Every time I see one of their ads today I cringe. The adjuster was totally clueless about motorcycles or the type of repairs that were needed. I remember when I told him a new helmet would cost $250.00 he objected and I asked him what brain surgery might cost them. It went back and forth for 3 weeks until I finally told him that unless I had the money for a new Goldwing sitting in my garage in 3 days, ( the one that was totally was six weeks old) I was going to have all kinds of back and neck pain cause I could just feel it coming on. They settled the next day.

Injured parties need to be reasonable, but it sure helps if the adjuster has some idea of the fact that motorcycles are different from cars, that is for sure.

Updated my profile... No longer own the 06 GL1800 as I traded it in for my trike. I also updated the other items that were out of date. Attached a pic of my current solo rider, an 04 Triumph America.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Glad your both ok and the trike can be fixed. It's amazing how ignorant and blind some people are. I ride all around the Chicago area and I have to stay on top of my game at all times. I have had people look me in the eye and then turn left in front of us, talk about creating a "road rage" situation. Stay safe and enjoy the ride. ThumbUp

Glad that the trike was repairable and especially that no one was hurt! The trike should be like new! :)

Hey Glad you all are OK. Can you post the web address for the company in Poland with the seat cover and also the Salvage yard in Dallas. I need to replace the vinyl on my seat and a body part that fell off.

This is the web address of the salvage yard. Guys seem pretty honest and pricing was fair.

The Polish seller sells through eBay. You order via eBay. Shipping to Texas was $17 and the cost of the cover was about $100... will vary as the price given on eBay is in Brit Pounds. I actually bought mine through the Brit eBay motors website as he had them listed there at the time but there is one listed on the US eBay motors website. I got the piping and Goldwing emblem done in dark green thread. The seat vinyl is outstanding as is the stitching and will put up some pics once installed. The company has a Polish website but I didn't find it all that useful (not speaking much Polish).
