That five gallon gas tank is a real pain.

And when you are running 100 miles between fuel stops
in Wyoming,
(from Casper to Shoshoni) is 98 miles you may start to sweat
the mileage a bit when the wind is blowing.
I had just a bit less than 1 gallon of gas when I got there.

also be aware, just because it shows a town on the map,
doesnt mean there is fuel there.

Just got done running through sand hills area in Nebraska, and I hear you about gas stations not always being where towns are labeled. I'm running two three gallon aluminum tanks and a 4 gallon king sporty tank for reserve, and after this summer's trip I'm still considering going with larger tanks.

The 5 gal square gas tank is on the left side of the back end in front of the axle
The battery is on the right side of the back end in front of the axle
It is your average 4 gear plus reverse 1965 bettle engine and tranny.

I'm running a 6.5 gallon (6 gal allowing for air space) dune buggy tank and averaging 25 mpg depending on conditions. I've run out a couple times, and I'm still living down calling the wife at 11:00 pm for the lawnmower gas can to rescue my sorry azz.:Shrug:

Relocate the battery and add another 5 gallon tank or have one custom made.
