New here guys and gals.. A little background...Retired U.S. Marine. Lost both legs in Iraq in 2006. Wanting to put together a trike for me and the mrs to ride. My dilemma is there is honestly too much info out there for my brain to cypher(I'm just a grunt). So what im asking is opinions on the difference between an outrigger style kit vs the fixed axle style kits.

You guys that have been trikers for a while, maybe you can tell me which style of setup would be better for my situation. Im from lower Alabama if theres anyone down this way that can show me in person one or the other styles. Thanks.

 click the community caption at the top of the page and find the member list, Look up Wheels and shoot him a private message.
he is in exactly your position and I bet he can steer you to what works and what don't!

By the way, under certain conditions you can get an outrigger style stuck. If the center tire cant make contact your pushing.

Out rigger is training wheel style. ( still has the original rear motorcycle tire ) so it is a 4 wheeler. Solid axle has a rear wheel drive car rear end. The other is independent rear. This has 2 separate axles. Rear wheels move independently.
Hope that helps .

Exactly who can lead you in the right direction and seems to be a good dude , by the way Jasper AL. here , if I can help any let me know . ThumbUp

As others have said, let me also Thank You for your service. It would be my pleasure to offer any help I can. I just saw that I have a PM so I will check in and send you my cell number and email. These three fingers of mine (that I use to type with) are better left out of the loop, thus the cell number.

All the best.

Cool. Got a buddy from jasper. We do a lot of rock crawling up there. I'm down in mobile.

Just down your way this past week , spent seven days in Gulf Shores . We have a friend who owns one of the 200 RV parks around there LOL:pepper: . Rode through Mobile on the way to the casinos one day ( lost 11.00 , played a few hours and drink about five of their drinks ) . I'm not a gambler , like the lights and BOOZE !!!!!!!!! :D:D

These guys do put a ton of money into their rock crawlers up here , you do the Mount Olive or the Cullman trails ? People are beginning to come from all over to the big Cullman tracks hauling their side by sides and other off road vehicles .

Like I said earlier if there's anything I can do to help just let me know and good luck with your choice .

Thanks & Salute for your Service Marine :clapping:
Wheels will have all the 411 & Intel you need to get you enlisted into the Trike Brigade.
An honor and privilege to have you here ThumbUp

Thanks guys. Im gonna give wheels a call later today.

Slick Rick, I haven't done anything with cullman trails. We ride a lot at the parks up there. Grey Rock, Morris Mountain. and those places. I will look into the trails though. Hadnt heard about them. Thanks

Stony Lonesome OHV Park ,,,check it out on the net ,,big deal up there , lot of money went into building it . ThumbUp On 69 highway between Jasper and Cullman AL. 1456 acres only one like it in the state .

Greg, great chatting with you and I am sure we can work this out so that we have yet another Double Amp out lose on the roads enjoying the world of Three. Just got off the phone with one installer who will work with you on "testing out" some issues to help you see what you can do while riding with your prosthetics on and I am checking on another as well. Check your PM's.ThumbUp

Come to think of it, I plan to head south soon so what the heck, let me talk with my lovely bride and see if we can swing over your way. Will keep you posted and should know more in a couple days.

Great talking you too wheels. Very informative. That's awesome about the installer. Thanks a bunch. And absolutely, if you come down this way let me know. Would be glad to meet up with you
