It's never too soon to start planning, is it?? :)

WELL, once again I'm making plans to ride to Sturgis on my TG, towing my Mini Mate, but this time, unlike for the 2014 rally, I have got to make it. I think if health problems stop me again I will just sell everything & become a full time ??!?!?!?. The carpal tunnel surgery on the left wrist has gone well and my new doctors seem to have control of the problems that jumped on me this past April. I still need to get carpal tunnel surgery on the right hand, back surgery(planned for winter time) and maybe neck surgery. The neck will depend on how I feel after getting the back fixed, it might not be needed or may be something I can live with after fixing the major problem, the back.

I first thing I need to do for Sturgis, is find a camp site for the 2015/75th rally, what is really bad & I haven't figured it out, the same camping place I reserved for 2014, the same place I notified many weeks before their cancel cutoff date, the same place I talked to about 'needing to make the 75th or else' & wanting the same spot, the same place that still has my 2014 deposit, decided that I didn't have a reservation for
2015!! :gah: So, if anyone knows of good, open spots, in or close to Sturgis, please let me know. Also, if anyone is renting a home and would rent me a camping spot, electric, bath & kitchen use, please let me know or if there is an extra room & the price is right, let me know about that.

I guess/hope the the T.O.U.R. will happen again and the same with a TT/TOI Ride.

PS, feel free to make this a sticky like the Sturgis 2014 thread, it will be great to find that even more members will be going to the 75th Rally

Me thinking of having the local HD dealer ship my trike and me flying up. More time to ride and sight see, less wear and tear. Me thinks. :clapping:

sounds like a great way to get to the rally all refreshed & ready to go :pepper:, have you got a quote on shipping your trike  :gah:

Expect to attend in 2015.

In 2000 stayed 1st week at the KOA near Mt. Rushmore (Hill City). Really nice KOA; good showers, etc.

Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Monument, & Needles Highway near by.

2nd week was at the KOA in Spearfish. Not as nice, but OK.

Checked today at a few hotels, I don't mean fancy ones, just plain jane type. The costs per room that were quoted to me were from $400.00 to over $600.00 per Night. Guess theres no law there for price gouging  Not me, it's not worth that much to me. Then add travel, food, drink, gas, and misc stuff. That add's up to a nice down payment on something new.

I hope that doesn't mean your not going to the 75th?

I wish there were anti gouging laws to put a stop to the greed.

I wish the greedy A Holes would realize that they would make more money if they would stop the obscene gouging! I know that every rally I have gone to, I have not bought many thing I wanted because I didn't want to feed the A Hole gougers!

Hey how ya doing, getting better I hope.
Two brothers (not trikers) and I are planning to go, always have good times. Even if we do have some problem. Been going since 2003 on and off. We stay at Glennco, some times ok and sometimes good, but always fit our budget.
Stay in touch and let me know how its go, maybe hook up in Stugis ThumbUp

:wave4:, I'm doing a lot better, all the test are starting to come back good or at least not bad.:Meds:ThumbUp
I hope to make campground reservations this week, but I'm going even if I've got to stay in Walmarts lot.:D
We can stay in touch on this thread and hope we can meet up in Sturgis.
Like the 2014 rally, there should be some of the TT/TOI members doing the T.O.U.R. ride and TT/TOI's own ride, set up by pmar6004/Paul, there will be plenty of info as the 75th gets closer.

Hi Tom,

Nice to see that we now have a "sticky" to your thread, so this appears to be a good time to chime in.

Also glad to hear that you're doing better and are planning on attending Sturgis next year.

Yes, I do plan on hosting the TT/TOI Meet/Ride event again during the Sturgis Rally.

We had such a poor showing at this year's event, that I wasn't sure that I'd be involved again. But it wasn't until I attended the TO.U.R. and saw how few hands were raised, when the moderator, Kirk Rush (Roadsmith Trikes) asked the attendees if they heard of the organization, TRIKETALK.COM. I really was surprised at how few people raised their hands. So next year I plan to do a bit of personal PR, handing out my "business cards", introducing myself and TrikeTalk.com/TOI to the T.O.U.R. participants. Our fearless leader, Randy, (aka Bazooka) was to attend the T.O.U.R., being given a bit of stage time to introduce our organization, but had to cancel because of his relocation and move to become a Texas resident.

Randy, I hope you and Marge can attend next year as well as many of our fellow members. Yes, unfortunately, lodging can be expensive, as Tom and others have found out, next year particularly, since this will be the 75th anniversary of the rally.

The key is to get your reservations in as early as possible and to shop around for the best deals. The T.O.U.R.

is generally held on a Wednesday during the rally, which will be the 5th of August. I intend to hold the TT/TOI Meet/Ride event on the following day, the 6th of August. Last year I held the event on a Friday, but this might be the day that some people plan to return home, thus they will not be able or inclined to participate. As time gets closer to the rally, I intend to give further details of the TT/TOI Meet/Ride event, so stay tuned to this channel, ok?

ThumbUp

Hi Paul,

Good to hear from you, I've been crazy busy trying to get moved, years of collecting tools & other STUFF makes everything hard. I'm one of those people that see something useful in just about anything and it makes it hard to throw it out.
I WILL be at the 75th or else and hopefully we can create a good turnout at T.O.U.R. & your ride. Once I get moved I will help you all I can to get trikers interested in showing up.

Ok Gang I see no one has written on this thread since October.......2014........ I hear crickets chirpin' We need to sweep the cobwebs out..... I know it is not going to be cheap getting to the 75th Rally...We have price gougers:mad: We will have a TON of people here....which will mean getting into Sturgis and getting out of Sturgis will be a nightmare! Usually that time of year we have rain and/or hellacious hailstorms and horrible heat! :gah: If I could I would say, "You all come here and stay with me!" BUT I don't have a home big enough or a yard big enough or enough parking...besides the boyfriend (and dog) would probably ground me! I will offer to help where I can....just let me know. I am very excited to meet all you folks from all over. We have common ground in the fact we all love to ride and we have trikes! As far as lodging, I know that Kadoka is a ways from Sturgis, but it may be cheaper lodging there. I know folks during the 50th stayed there. It is about 120 miles from Sturgis which is about 1 1/2 hour trip. Walmart parking lot would be closer to be honest  There is always coming before or after the Rally week as well....I know we see a lot of folks during those times as well. lodging might be cheaper during that time as well. I went on a rant to the HD dealership about putting up a temporary lodging, but they walked quickly away from the crazy lady (me). I do know there are people who do rent their homes out for the rally as well.... RallyHomes <--- click it Also this is another familiar place More Homes <-- click it. I hope that helps some. ~ Blue Pearl ~

OMG... So excited... I'm totally rock'n Sturgis for the 75th.... This will be my first time there! Pulling out of Anchorage Alaska on Monday July 27th, and should land in Sturgis Sunday August 2nd around lunch time (based on my current plan of camp areas and mileage). Girlfriend is flying down on Thursday the 6th, and I'll drive her to Seattle, where she'll fly home (she can only take 6 days off), then I'll drive back to Anchorage from there.

This will be EPIC for me :) I've been wanting to do Sturgis for so long, I can't see anything past it :p I'd love to hook up with other trikers while I'm there, so chime in and lets plan a meet!

Any suggestions for this Sturgis newb, please let me know :) :) :)

If the blue beast gets sold or if it holds together for the trip, we should leave Monday Aug 3.
Probably spend the night at North Platte or Ogalalla Neb. Havnt decided which yet. Then we should be in Custer SD the next day.
I have reservations for one of the smaller hotels there. Fortunately, I got rooms before they went totally NUTS.

The 75th is supposed to be the biggest rally yet. Normally they say that about 500,000 people show up. This year there is a prediction of 750,000 or more. I don't believe all that hype. I'm sure there will be more people but, there just can't be that many spaces to rent and sleep in the Black Hills. Go to the South Dakota web site, ( http://www.travelsd.com/) there is a lot of info about the Black Hills there. They even have a trip planner that I have used. If your like me and a lot of other people you may find that walking around the city of Sturgis during the Rally gets a little old, there is so much more to see. Just be ready to share the roads with more motorcycles then you have ever seen. You will have fun!

I'll be riding out of Central Texas on July 25 with overnight stops in Liberal Ks and Alliance.Ne then reservations at Hot Springs, SD for 2 days while I ride Custer State Park, the Badlands, Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore and Iron Mountain Road. I also have reservations at the Ace Motel in Belle Fourche, SD July 29 through Aug 4 so from there I can visit downtown Sturgis a couple days and then ride the northern side of the Black Hills like Deadwood, Spearfish canyon, Devils Tower, the hill climb, drag-races, and whatever else comes up. Maybe a bar or three.
I don't see the high cost of lodging around Sturgis during the Rally as price gouging because motels and hotels are allowed to raise prices for special events. It happens all over the country and Canada also. But hay, if it wasn't for the Rally there probably wouldn't be a Sturgis,SD. If the gas stations start charging twice the normal cost of gas, then yeah, that's price gouging. So support the local Innkeepers, they don't make much after the rally, and even a lot of the campgrounds close down. Hope to see a few of you there. ThumbUp

Mike

The wife and I are going to be there this year come hell or high water!!!

We are already in the planning stages of the trip..........Course it isn't all that far, maybe 400 miles north.

We are also planning on attending the T.O.U.R. ride as well. Have a couple of pals that also have trikes and they are planning the trip as well.

Lodging for Sturgis 2015

Ok guys it's da Blue Pearl! Soooooo Hang onto your hats!!!:pepper:

I called the Mt Rushmore at Palmer Gulch KOA....They got rooms/ tent area/ and more!
I really like this place even my mom and her Boy Friend have stayed there....The KOA are good folks and run a really nice place.

They have rooms in their hotel... and they have cabins left as well. Some are NOT available on their web site, so you would have to call them. The tent sites they have available from the 2nd- 8th of August for two people will run about $225 for all those days. Or roughly $37/night. CALL THEM NOW DON'T DELAY! They are located on the backside of Mt Rushmore and it is pretty, pretty, pretty there. You smell the fresh pines and bask in the morning sun there. Can you tell I really like the place? Honestly, they are the best place to camp, if you are still looking.....showers, laundry, pools, heated tubs....nice facility.

Their numbers are as follows: 605-574-3404 and the 1-800-562-8503
Address: 12620 Hwy 244, Hill City, SD 57745

Let them know you are a triker not a biker ....I told them we are a calm bunch and more refined lmao

The Roadsmith last year started their trike ride from Hill City last year. I would imagine they will do the same this year. I haven't seen anything when their ride is as of this year ( I probably have missed it--but look for it) and this is close to this KOA. Guys, it was a great time and they fed us well when we hit the Chip. I took one of my grandsons with me and we had a good time together.

I sure hope this helps out to those still looking. And I really hope to meet some of you this year, dang it! I met Paul last year and we had a great ride and a delightful time. This is my time of the year for sure! I love the Black Hills and I love sharing it with everyone. I came here when I was 17 and the was many, many Rallies ago... I even met the original Pearl (her hubby was Pappy Hoel) from the Jackpine Gypsies when I was a kid. If you know your history of the Sturgis Rally, you will know who they were. ;) I still love it.

I know Paul has a sweet ride for us to go on as well. I love the DC Fish Hatchery, it is so serene there and gives you time to reflect on your own thoughts... I took the granddaughter last year there with me. It was a great birthday present for me....and Thanks again, Paul!

COME JOIN THE FUN!!!! MAKE SOME MEMORIES!!!!

~Blue Pearl~

p.s. OMG this sounds like a advertisement.... sorry, I just get so
EXCITED over this time of year!!!

Thanks a ton Blue Pearl!!! That is great information for those still looking for a camp spot or a place to stay. :clapping:

Personally I already have a place between NewCastle Wyoming and Custer South Dakota on a piece of private ground.

But I am sure there are still a lot of folks looking for spots to stay.
