Greetings all, I'd like to request that all you 2009 Stallion owners please post a reply and tell me what issues you had with your 2009, what broke or had to be repaired/replaced/upgraded, any tips/tricks, just overall how you like it and what a new owner might need to know. (Feel free to do that in a private message if you wish.)

I have found a 2009 with 16,000 miles and before I trip the trigger I'd like to be an informed buyer. (Also, any guess as to what a fair price might be, or what you have seen them sell for, would be appreciated.)

It would be easy to let my emotions override my common sense, that is why I am seeking info. In 1971, I went down hard...near fatal, 2 months hospital, 1 month bedridden at home, leftover effect: paralyzed arm...no riding ever since.

A year ago I saw a Stallion...damn, it has a steering wheel! Now, I am about to try to get one. At last, gonna be riding again!

I'd really love to actually talk to a 2009 Stallion owner, so if any of you wouldn't mind a conversation, tell me in your post and I will send you a private message with my cell number.

I appreciate you taking the time to post a message. That's one thing I've always liked about bike riders, they go out of their way to help another biker.

Thanks in advance,

Chip

I have an '08. I don't believe there is much distinction beteeen the '09's and other years as far as problems. Just a handful of the '09's were still fiberglass, just a bit heavier. The '09's that were fiberglass were ser. # around the mid 500's.

Hi Chip,

I can empathize with you wanting to turn your attentions towards the Stallion after your accident, wanting to get yourself "back into the wind". I had a stroke that affected my right side back in '08 that brought my motorcycle riding days to a quick end.

I thought my riding days were over permanently, that was until I came across the Stallion.

After much physical therapy, I regained my ability to drive a car and shortly thereafter I focused my thoughts on the Stallion.
Unfortunately I didn't make the cut as I could no longer find a dealer that had any 2010 available. As you may know, TMS did not manufacture any in 2011 and 2012 due to an engine shortage I was told, so I decided to look for a pre-owned Stallion on the internet and found one that had 18k miles and was very clean. I now have another 18k miles on it and have had little to no problems other than replacing a section of coolant hose due to a leak and a faulty switch that allowed the cruise control unit to function. The earlier '08 model Stallions had a few problems that TMS has updated and replaced under warranty with more efficient and functional parts once informed by the owners. My Stallion is #627 with an ABS body. Other Stallion owners can chime in, but I don't think you'll have too much to worry about in the later models as far as problems. Take care and I hope to see you behind the wheel of a Stallion during the 75th anniversary of Sturgis Rally this summer.

Good morning Chip & welcome to the forum, captain h here . The stallion is a great mac. & is easy to drive . We have a 2009 with 14,675 miles on it .

When we got it , in April 2009, #549,our brake lights stopped working after a few weeks . I called our dealer, three hours away in Vt., he overnighted a new brake switch. My son & I put it on , it was an easy fix.

I was born a lefty , when I wear my prosthetic limb, I am call captain , :xzqxz: lol .ThumbUp, don't know why ,lol. Well when we seen the stallion , I said to my wife ,[hey I can drive that ] She said ,[ so can I] , and the stallion joined our family.

Someone put a video on show & tell titled " Driving a Stallion Trike" , I think they did an ok job with it .;)may be worth watching ,ThumbUp

Hope it all works out for you , I think you will be happy with one , or two . :pepper:I would like to throw a big thank you to everyone on this forum , they do help out , & keep you informed .

Re: Calling all 2009 Stallion owners (or previous 2009 owners)

The biggest issue that I am aware of was the break switch which also controls the cruise control but with 16k on it, you probably should be OK. Also the early 09s had the old ladder bars which had adjustable joint at all three points which caused a few problems. Most that I am aware of have been replaced. I just turned 57k and going strong !! Two quick things to check/adjust are 1) adjust the front shocks to 1 or 2 clicks from the top and the front end will ride a lot smoother, 2) tire pressure should be 36-38 front and 25 rear. Air shocks usually at 15-20 riding solo and 20-25 double up or towing.

Re: Calling all 2009 Stallion owners (or previous 2009 owners)

Hello Chip. I have an 08. The only big problem I have had is my ring and pinion. It wasn't set up correctly and destroyed itself. I did do some experimenting with a 3.73 rear end and it didn't work out climbing the mountains out here in AZ. I went back to the 4.10. The difference I did notice is the mileage dropped about 2-3 MPG with the 4.10. We also found a problem with the brake calibers when we had it apart. I do have the old style ladder bars. Mine seem to be OK, but I only have about 16000 miles on it.

It had 12000 on it when I got it.

A friend of mine had a ladder bar break on the way to Sturgis last year with his wife on the back. He said he had a wild ride for a while. TBMS sent him a new set to some small town in Wyoming for the repairs. I do love mine and plan on keeping it.

Chip

We bought a used 09 Stallion almost two years ago. I have a couple of HD Screaming Eagle Fatboys and the Stallion is Lizzy's ride that replaced a 80s Kit VW trike she had for over 15 years. She absolutely loves it and as much as I like 2 wheels I NEVER turn down her invation to ride it. I think you will enjoy a Stallion as much as we all do. The only problem we have had was the cruise control went out during a rain storm and I have yet to replace it since she doesnt like to use it anyway.
