    Default the wife survived her first ride on the Yamaha Roadstar

    Actually, we both did

    When I bought it, I hadn't ridden two up in 30+ years.
    Fact is, I hadn't ridden much in 25 years.
    And she is not a motorcycle person.
    So I have been very hesitant to have her on the bike with me.

    It was so nice to day, I got the bike out and was putting around the
    little one mile square town I live in. I stopped by the pastors house
    to check on her and she decided she wanted a ride home.

    We ended up making two passes around town before I dropped her off.
    Her only complaint, she doenst like the factory passenger seat
    Imagine that, if I keep it and trike it when it is paid off, we
    will change out the seats. I don't like the factory seats either.
    The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
    But I have promises to keep,
    And miles to go before I sleep,
    And miles to go before I sleep.

    Some advice for you:

    1. Ride at her comfort speed , especially in the curves. you want her to want to ride.
    2. Let her be the boss as far as stops. When she says she needs a break, find a place quick with a clean restroom.
    3. If she has had enough, go home. You have to let her build up her riding calluses.
    4. Make it fun, go where she wants to go on some rides.
    5. Surprise her with a picnic lunch when you stop at a scenic stop.

    In other words, make her an equal part of the ride and don't scare her, trying to impress her with your riding skills. Sometimes the after riding adventures are more fun that the riding.

    Congrats on your success. I hope you both enjoy the time together!!!

    I've owned my '06 GL1800 since December 2005 and my wife never once rode on it. She had hip replacement surgery a while back and has healed pretty well. The day after I finished the 2015 conversion she rode to lunch (only 40 miles) and we were very pleased. Today we are going to try something longer. Several of us are riding (maybe 150 miles) and hope the outcome is as before. Wish us LUCK....

    What you are saying makes a lot of sense for everyone.

    Part of her issues have to do with being dumped
    off a dirt bike when her brother popped a wheelie
    at about age 12

    That pretty well what we do on the trike.

    We don't travel to far or to fast.
    We have a rough idea where we are going.
    And always have enough time to stop and
    look at what strikes our fancy.

    It's a lot more fun when your better half enjoys the rides with you. When I was on 2 wheels, I had a hard time getting my wife to ride with me. I think it was because while backing up with her on board, my foot slipped into a hole and down we went. But now that I have a trike, the stability is so much better, no worries about dropping or slipping feet. Now as long as she isn't working, she is more apt to be riding with me.

    i wasn't always this smart. after her saying she needed to stop and I rode another 45 minutes, lets just say I didnt have to run the room AC that night. Pretty chilly there. She is very good about letting me know what bothered her during the day and ''i tell her as well. Works really well/
