6 into 6 on a Valkyrie trike

Forget now, but I mentioned in another thread somewhere on this forum that I was going to attempt to 'thread' a Cobra 6 into 6 through the DFT independent rear suspension.
It was a tight squeeze, so tight in fact that the 6 x 2" pipes had to be reduced to 1 1/2" to fit 'em through. Must admit I was a bit apprehensive how the end result would sound, and I'm here to tell you I'm ecstatic :D

If you're interested in hearing what it sounds like, a tiny vid of me leaving my chapter's headquarters this morning taken by a mate... Couldn't really rev it out 'cos very easy to get 'pinged' by the police in this area.

I'll second that! Looks and sound great

Nice note... You will be waking the neighbors when u leave Tuesday after you have made me & Anna a hearty breakfast

No worries mate, I'll just use the helium glove on my right hand, and short shift up to 5th like I had to when riding beside a police car today

Just glad the Valk has plenty of grunt, think I was in top gear before 20 mph. Both officers were looking (I was sneaking sideways looks behind the shades  ) But I think they were just curious... phew

Sounds like your officers are far more strict then we are here in the states. If you are not getting on it just to make a lot of noise and the sound is otherwise reasonable then we don't much care unless we get a compaint. Then we have to do what we have to do. A lot of us are riders also.

Yes. I agree that the Cobra 6 'n' 6 on the Valkyrie sounds great! I also had them on my trike for awhile. I went with Ernie Shuster's Dragon packs. They have interchangeable glass packs. The only reason I changed was to have the pipes sticking out a bit beyond the back of the trike.

My trike setup has 38" stacks with the 18" small bore glass packs. She has a nice low muffled rumble at idle which is equal to stock in my opinion. As you increase the RPM, she begins to growl. Not like a harsh small block! This system has a kind of smooth/quality tone to it.

Love the sound! But I still agree that the Cobra 6 'n' 6 sound fantastic as well!!!!

I have a lot of friends in the force, and like you, are very reasonable on the whole, but there is the odd 'cowboy' who struts and won't bend... these are the guys that get up my nose. Also, in Oz we have EPA (Environmental Protections Authority) 'cameras' that trigger when any vehicle passes and exceeds the required limit, which is 94 dB. I checked mine after the conversion and it's 102 dB ON IDLE At 3000 RPM it's around 108 dB.

Fortunately, if I don't crack the throttle too hard, I think it's reasonably safe, but geez it's hard not to arc it up when it sounds so sweet My mate's FatBoy is loud ALL the time, mine sounds like a sewing machine by comparison. Heh, heh, we've both just returned from a 3 day run over the Alpine Pass in our neck of the woods, and boy, did we have fun stirring our respective pots through the backwoods... BLISS

SAWEEEET !!!! sounds like an OLD CORVETTE.

Funny you should say that John, even when I'm just idling at a set of lights, the low burble does turn quite a few heads. And speaking on the practical side, after just completing a 3 day run with a bunch of trikes, my fuel economy has improved at least 5% since reverting to the 6 into 6. It was a big awkward job to get it through Leon's DFT rear-end, but well worth the effort :D

Will someone please put up a link so this hillbilly from quincy can see and hear it?

As the original post mentioned, I wasn't giving it a handful, but I think you'll get the idea.

But if you want to hear it in full song (on a windy day) here is a link when Mr Bumbles the trike, was only on two wheels. A word of explanation, the road is rarely used (and there were no police around :D )
