2015 FLRT Rear Wiring Harness Insert

In an effort to keep the stock wiring harness intact and without any splicing or modification, I decided to build an insert harness to power some of the accessories I would like to have on the 2015 FLRT. The insert goes in between the main wiring harness and the rear light wiring harness at the junction located just below the FLRT’s seat (Connectors 7A & 7B on the FLRT Schematics). The following are notes in support of that insert.

Terminal Pin Chart
Terminal 1 on connectors 7A & 7B – R/Y – Accessory Power
Terminal 2 on connectors 7A & 7B – BE/BN – Right Turn Signal Power
Terminal 3 on connectors 7A & 7B – BE – Running Light Power
Terminal 4 on connectors 7A & 7B – BE/R – Brake Light Power
Terminal 5 on connectors 7A & 7B – BE/V – Left Turn Signal Power
Terminal 6 on connectors 7A & 7B – BK – GROUND
Terminal 7 on connectors 7A & 7B – R/BE – P&A Power
Terminal 8 on connectors 7A & 7B – Reverse Indicator Power FLRT (Not Used)

Just bought a harness to run my trailer. They use the same/similar set up. Plugs in and add the proper plug for the trailer is all.

Keystone,

Your premade insert is most likely cheaper than ordering the HD parts and its pre-made. Please post details on it - maker, place of purchase, part number, and price.....

I won't call them cheap, but here is where I got mine from. Up until 2013 the electric hook ups were easy and cheap...

Edit: Today I went out to the garage with the intention of doing the trailer hook up. After questioning the vender as to his product actually working on the FLRT and him stating it did I came to find out it will NOT work on the TG. The one he sent only works on the TG. He know understands it won't work. He will replace the part in 2 or more weeks once he gets the new set up from the company that makes them.

Harley sells an accessory 12v socket for the tourpack on the Tri-Glide. It connects to the same socket under the left panel on the Freewheeler. There is a plastic nameplate/plug behind the felt lining. I took out the plate, drilled a hole, notched the hole and passed the 12v socket wire through it. I now have a 7.2v USB outlet strip in the trunk to charge MP3 players, cordless headsets, etc. I also installed a 120v inverter . . . just in case.. Total outlay was under $50.00

Reverse motor circuit breaker

I tripped the breaker and really feel dumb now after seeing what some of you are doing with the electrical system. I am looking at Figure 98 of my owner's manual but I have no clue where the electrical caddy is. I was just about to take the seat off then decided that I should just ask for help.

My car is in the shop so I thought it would be fun to back my trike into the garage. I am not sure if it was too far or if I used the brake too much before letting off of the reverse but I will be more careful from this day forward.

Yes, I am blonde.:)

If it was uphill that will do it sometimes, also I've found bumping up a curve, like at the beginning of a driveway will do it too.

I fixed it

If it was uphill that will do it sometimes, also I've found bumping up a curve, like at the beginning of a driveway will do it too.

I found the location on another thread and I also read that someone drives up the driveway and coasts back down to get out so I will do that the next time I don't use my trike garage. Hopefully my car won't be in the shop too frequently.

Air wing LED light wiring

Do you think your harness will run my air wing LED light? I can do the work. Harley wonts to Hrs. labor to do it. Thanks for the post man.

I was told bi Harley their was no insert wiring for the Free Wheeler for the trunk for ACC. or add on air wing light?

Recently, I have got an influx of private message request for the insert I made and data posted herein. Folks I made exactly one; and, I am not interested in making them to sell - that is sort of why I posted the data on making one.

However, I have heard that a firm called "RIVCO Products, Inc" http://rivcoproducts.com/ may make such an item.

Also, I have to say that if you are in the market for one, I would try Rivco and see - as I am sure it would be cheaper than ordering the stuff from Harley as I did.......

His doesn't fit either. Bought on last day in Sturgis. Still waiting for them to make it right.

Rear rack air wing light

I got it done and it works good. Was not hard to do. " Thanks for the info." How I'm looking for a better head light bulb for the big axx head light that's on it, maybe a H4 PIAA ?? I'm not giving Harley 500 bucks for an LED head light.

I found an H4 LED Cree light 6000k light on eBay, installed. Had to modify the retainer, works fantastically, and wow, extremely white and bright. Cost: $55.00...
