Installed a reverse gear from champion on a 07 ultra trike now shifting sounds noisey.Everthing seams good but loud clunk shifting. or is the noise normal and i hear the noise more because of the bike being a trike??? Bike was a 07 ultra with a 6 speed trans an a champion independant conversion.Reverse gear went on smoothly and works great.
Any help

welcome aboard tingrin. suggestion did you change the trans fluid? If so did you put in synthenic lube? If not try it. HD trans clunk I also have an 07 and mine clunks but it always has.

Only other suggestion is to do a cable and clutch adjustment just to make sure they are correct. If all is well then just ride on. Like I said HD's clunk especially when dropping it into first from neutral. You might be more aware of it because of the steps you take to engage the reverse. Makes you more conscience of that shift and now the noise it makes.

I read somewhere a while back that the "Clunk" which occurs when dropping the Harley into first gear is the slack being taken up in the primary chain. I believe there is an after market compensator sprocket available that dampens that action and makes it less noticeable. Both my Heritage and my Ultra have that obnoxious Clunk!!!
