:AGGHH: I came up to a stop sign with two cars ahead of me. The **** head directly in front of me had a case of road rage with the lead car honking the horn jumping around etc. She threw her car in reverse and backed right into the rear of my trike. smiles-fuck%20you.gif smiles-fuck%20you.gif smiles-fuck%20you.gif smiles-fuck%20you.gif

There is no champion dealer anywhere near me in caper, Wyoming.

I built the bike myself and likely know more about trikes than anyone around me but I will have to haul the trike somewhere to get an assessment for repair and I have no clue where the nearest dealer or installer might be?

The damage would appear cosmetic and fixable but she hit the rear wheel also and shifted the body, I don't know what hidden damage there might be to the axle etc. the rim will need replaced as its all scratched up.

A foot closer and she would have nailed me.

can anyone give an idea of nearest champion dealer?

Dumb Ass people. Glad you didn't get hurt.

After 26 accident free years with my bike I am more than hurt!
She's just lucky she didn't get hurt.
I kept my temper and didn't go off on her.
My self restraint has grown beyond my expectations!
She even told the cop it was because she was mad at the person in front of her.

Champion Rep?

Sad part, her insurance will probably not give you much ... If I remember it's an 89? Blue book can't be much, especially on a conversion. Sorry to hear your troubles Paul ... sad to happen to such a grand old gal.

Okay ... Champion is a sponsor here, someone should chime in with the closest dealer.

Well old son The bike it's self is a classic and last I looked it had a top book $6,000.00 and it is a top book bike. The rear end is $9,000 to replace if I have too. It has a brand new engine with 8000 miles on it so someone is gonna pay to repair this somehow cause it sure aint for sale.

I tried the dealer locator on the champion web site and its down for maintenance.
The problem is I need a mechanic and not just an installer, I want to check for any bend in the frame, swing arm, bushing damage as well as someone smart enough to look for axle housing damage and bright enough to use a dial indicator to check for hub and axle true. some one who can spot suspension damage etc. and I don't trust a damn soul beside myself to perform it right!
I don't want someone to repair it and start knocking out axle seals and have minute cracks develop into a life threatening situation?
I could assess it myself but I doubt her ins. co. will believe me?

Damn! That sucks. They just total everything these days anyway don't they? So why won't they accept a new kit as the cost. Just sorta thinking out loud.

I am confused though with the accident. How in the world did the rear end get hit if you are in line and the trouble was with the cars in front of you. Your words, she slammed it into reverse (or something like it). That would seem to be backing into your front fender or backing away from you. I'm totally confused with that. I don't think you was going backwards.

the car in front was sitting straight. her car was sitting at an angle with the rear end sticking out in the other lane as if she came out of a parking lot or had flipped a u and didn't have room to straighten her car out. she slammed it in reverse and backed around as if she were going to re-enter the parking lot and the right rear of her car swiped the left rear of my trike.

Hate to say it Paul but it sounds like you let your guard down and forgot if the idiots Can do something stupid the Will do something stupid.

Also seems like a reasonable settlement would be a new kit and 60 hours of labor. But I know they want "official" estimate. Seems to me you are walking with a limp that looks very painful and why are you shaking so badly? That's going to take a lot of mental health care to fix if it ever gets fixed. How's that sound????:D Get every damn penny you can. EVERYBODY does it now. There is know such thing as small settlements anymore.

Believe me when she was backing into me I was suckin pretty hard on my oxygen machine . My heart did a few flip flops that it shouldn't have and the fight or flight mode kicked right in.
However I didn't need any nitro pills so that was a good thing!

I got enough real problems without inventing any my friend, My blood pressure still hasn't returned to normal.
I really should sign off and go for a mental health ride. :AGGHH:

Oh Wait some dung head made that impossible.

Sorry to hear, glad your OK.

I thought Champion has a truck that picks up bikes from dealers around the country to do factory conversions, I know the dealer I bought my Goldwing trike from is a dealer for Champion but had sent my Vulcan 900 I traded in directly to the factory for the conversion. Maybe you can get them to pick it up and fix it there. If you had no fault insurance, your company may take care of things and then go after the other driver.

Who knew an idiot would do a backup with a one and a half gainer?

I guess having to deal with Dallas traffic I've just about seen everything yet they do manage to pull something else out now and then. I've seen cases like this so I've learned that if it don't look right, stay way back. So what do they do? Pull in, in front, in my cushion. But at least THEY get hit, not me then. And remember, down here the guns can come out fast with ANY road rage.:D

Good alternative plan but the deductible would come out of my pocket and I shouldn't have to pay for someone else's meltdown?
The next thing would be my insurance going up even though this old tour glide has never had a previous claim? I wouldn't put it past em?

However if I find a dealer somewhere I may look into the truck idea?
Wyoming is beautiful but they pipe sun shine to us.

Brother your preaching to the choir when your in Wyoming!
No concealed carry permits nothing any idiot with the mental capacity to drool has been endowed with certain inalienable rights, you may assume everyone is armed and on Meth!
Ten feet tall and bullet proof and way too ready to prove any shooting (they) are involved in is completely justifiable. Kill em all and let God sort em out. Is the code of the west out here in Gods country.
Non the less Idiots prevail in being raging idiots.
Perhaps that's why we have the least population of any state in the union? ThumbUp
Maybe I should start packin one my heaters? :AGGHH:

My smart a$$ is your smart a$$

Paul I'll be at the factory dealer will be in Sturgis in a couple of weeks. We were there about 10 days ago and some vendors were already setting up. The friends that we rode with had an issue with their Motor Trike drive shaft during Sturgis week a couple years ago and the factory rep. replaced the whole rear end and drive shaft while they waited.
