Running Boards

I am looking at converting my '04 Screamin' Eagle Electra Glide to a trike on the Hannigan Transformer. I know I want the rake modification and mechanical reverse. What I'm not sure about is running boards. Do they hold a lot of heat around the motor? Are they sturdy for the duration? Are the fog lights effective or a decoration? If I go this route I want to have everything painted at the same time. Thanks!shiny eagle.jpg

May I suggest you contact Bazooka. He is very familiar with that conversion. Welcome to the forum.

I put Lehman running boards no lights on my 09 Tri glide in 2012 - they stand up very well and I step up on them to mount bike. Did have some road paint chips so this year had them sprayed with truck bed liner same colour and they look great

If I'm not mistaken, running boards are not available as an option for the Transformer conversion. They are available on the standard FLH conversion.

Thanks For The Welcomes!

....and the information. Clint, you should know. I've been following your build on that beautiful purple machine!

I wanted running boards on my Transformer but they said there are no running boards for it and none planned. You will love the Transformer. Just check out your installer.

...you're right! John Lee from Hannigan confirmed there are no boards for the Transformer. The point is officially MOOT.

But to answer one of the questions; about heat, I have the FLH Hannigan conversion and I am going to take off my running boards because it feels like the heat does get trapped right by my wife's legs - and she notices.

We got caught two days ago in stop and go freeway traffic on the hottest day of the year so far. Not a pretty incident with the direct ambient heat of the day, and indirect heat coming from the engine and cooling fans. We were both wishing we'd taken the air-conditioned car. Hopefully with them removed that will help the circulation.

I had plans to purchase a Yellow/Silver 2005 SE Electra Glide Standard. Only reason I didn't get it was I spotted our Purple/Black 2011 Street Glide on the same showroom floor. The rest,as they say,is history. With the quality of Hannigan's paintwork, your 2004 will look awesome in Transformer trim!

Yes,you definitely want the Champion reverse and raked trees. Both work as intended.
