Here is a first draft itinerary for Maggie Valley. This has been discussed with input from several helpful members but it isn't carved in stone, so if you have alternative suggestions feel free to add to the conversation. We are 20 days out so we have time to work out any changes and details to suit. Remember, this is not a Rally it is a gathering, just consider it a real nice vacation with 100 of your best Trike Talk buddies, that happens to be hosted in one of the most beautiful and best places on the planet to ride our trikes. If you have never been to Maggie Valley, you WILL love it. If you have been, you know what I'm talking about...it's a magical place.

Monday Sept 7:
Arrive at the host hotel, check in, rest and relax from the ride-in, as always pull the chairs up, have a cool beverage and meet n greet everyone, put a face with the screen name, make new friendships and renew old ones and admire the trikes, etc. For those who arrived early and want to take a ride up the mountains or sight-see the local shops, we will have multiple ride maps and points of interest maps to hand out. Monday night we plan to host a grilled hot dog & sausage dog & extras cook-out at the hotel, food and beverages furnished by TT. Doug (retdpd) did an impromptu cookout at Eureka Springs and it was very well enjoyed by all. For those who don't care for grilled hot dogs, there is a restaurant right next to the hotel called Legends Sports Grill that has good food as well as several other good restaurants on the strip close by.

Tuesday Sept 8:
Breakfast At Joey's Pancake House 8:00 AM (there is also free continental breakfast at the hotel for those who want a light breakfast)
Tail of the Dragon Group Ride
Early Dinner Stop At Harrah's Casino Buffet in Cherokee
Stay and enjoy some gaming or not, your choice, its a 16 mile ride to Maggie Valley

What time is the TOD Group ride on Tuesday the 8th? We were looking forward to doing this but we won't get there until Tuesday. We could leave Early Tuesday am and be there around 10 am and check in to the room when we return from the ride. It is about a 4 1/2 hour drive from Lexington, SC to MV and wouldn't take long to unload Trike and ready to ride.

Never mind, The Wife just reminded me that my back probably wouldn't handle the 4 1/2 hour drive up and then the TOD ride back to back.

We will just do it on our own the next day.

Dan, we planned to leave about 9:30ish since feeding close to 100 people will take a little while. If you can be there by 10:00 AM I dont see any problem starting then.

Thanks Randy but as my Wife said, after a 4 1/2 hour drive up with my bad back and then the TOD ride I'd be in some serious pain.
We are going to the Dragon instead of the Biltmore house.
No problem.:AllGood:

Good point so we may have to swap WTT to Thursday. Dale and I have played phone tag but I will call him back today to confirm.

OK, we worked out a special deal for Trike Talk members. WTT is open on Monday, but closed on Tues & Wed and open again on Thursday, so I requested we have a two day pass so all members can tour WTT on either Monday or Thursday or both. The official group tour will be on Thursday, but for those that want to go on Monday, you will pay for entry, then tell them that you are with TrikeTalk.com group and they will provide a free pass for Thursday as well. You may need to mention the name Carla as she is the manager and will see that this happens.

Joey's Pancakes???
I want flapjacks, and BACON!!!!!!

Now, gotta get home from Colorado and Utah. Sure ain't no global warming up here. :)

Really sounds like I'm going to miss a good time. WoW !!! Life sure sucks when investment thief's take your retirement savings to lead a life of luxury and you have to go back to work. But hey, making the best of it.

Wish I could be there for sure !!

I was wondering what was happening... Dale and his Wheels thru Time place are a must see! It looks like Sara and I will be there on either Monday or Thursday, or possibly Wednesday and Thursday if I can find the $$$. I am looking forward to seeing some trikers again. I used to be active in the BTW but the new CEO took care of that! Be free on 3! CD (Dave Sherwood)

Yeah I'm actually pretty stoked that we can all visit Dale on both Monday and Thursday on a single ticket...very cool of them to accommodate us. I will definitely be going both days as there is a lot to see.

We sent to the museum a couple of years ago!

We went to Dale's museum a couple of years ago, arrived in the early afternoon and completely ran out of time to see all that is to be seen. Dale asked us if we wanted to come back the next day and get in for free, and of course we said yes! Dale will start up "whatever" engine for you! He had a Dusenberg roadster in the museum that was easily worth over 1M. He saw I was interested in it and asked me if I wanted to hear the engine run! Of course I said yes, and he started the engine for me! The Duzey's engine is supposed to run super smooth, so Dale opened the hood and let me feel the engine run, and there was NO vibration! Dale is an unusual guy! He obviously enjoys having people enjoy being at his museum, and enjoying the things he enjoys!CD

I'm in!! Both days sounds like a winner to me. Hey Zook, are we supposed to get our Biltmore tickets in advance or wait till we go?

You can purchase your tickets in advance, but you will still have to check in and have a photo ID made for entry into Biltmore, may take a little time. Then upon entry you will drive to one of several parking lots where a shuttle bus will take you to the mansion. Least that was what we experienced Nov. of last year. On occasions they let some clubs drive directly to the mansion and park on the opposite end of the courtyard from the mansion.

A corvette club was parking there on our last visit, and last year the BMW motorcycle club national parked their bikes all around the courtyard itself. Several hundred bikes. From the Mansion you can walk to and through the gardens, if you are going to the winery you will drive past the mansion (no parking there) and on to the winery further down the road.

Biltmore tickets

Season pass available for about? $89 when accompanied by season pass holder, friends and family program. Regular price about $140.
Have season pass already, not sure if going to Biltmore yet. You ay want to consider buying tickets in advance on internet and saving a few dollars if you are sure you are going. Will still have to be processed when you get there (stand in line) to get pass made.
