I ran an environmental lab in Northbrook, Il. for about five years, While I was there I got a call from the Jack Daniels distillery. Apparently the EPA decided they needed to run a gamma spectroscopy on every batch they distilled.

I told them yes we did that and that I needed a gallon sample that I could return after analyzing. He said just keep it, and drink it or throw it down the drain. I'd already quit booze by then, so I figured we'd destroy it after. First sample arrived and it was 6 gallons in a box. It was really cloudy. I called the guy and he said they only had gallon jugs that fit in a 6 gallon box and they sent the stuff before it was "filtered" and that it was safe to drink, and that he preferred it pre filtered.

Make a long story short, I got 6 gallons of Jack every week or two, for about three years. Needless to say, the lab techs were mighty happy campers and I'm proud to say even though JD was my drink of choice as a youngin, I never touched a drop ... :D

I bet you had a bottomless bunch of friends!

Back in my crazy youth ... during the "van craze" I made a set of "captains" chairs out of a wine barrel. Only problem ... the van always smelled like wine all the time ... not a good thing.
