FYI: Mine quit, Didn't want to wait for dealers to order. Replaced with Stabilus P/N SG359010 from PEP Boys. Works perfectly and was less expensive than OEM from dealers and what I could find on line.

Should have added that the P/N given above will replace CanAm P/N 708000479
 
Possibly, but I found several units in the same barrel size, length, and hole size which varied in their resistance to being pushed down. I chose one which lifted the seat quickly, but could be pushed back down easily also. Since they are easy to install, you could try different pressures to find one suitable.
