Kliktronic Shifter sticky

Hey all! New triker here! I have an issue with my Kliktronic shifter being sluggish or not even working! So I bought my very first trike last summer and worked on getting it setup to ride. I found the shifter on Craigslist for around $500! Good deal!:pepper: I had it installed, practiced and got my license. Weeelllll I went on two rides for the first time and no issues. My third ride I went out with some buds and the trike died! Stupid me no gas! Lesson learned. Well I was able to flip on reserve, head to the nearest gas station but the shifter started acting weird. It would shift from neutral to first, but not from 1st to N ( it did it intermittently). My buddy rode it home and the regular shift was fine. So I found some installation guides and went over the troubleshooting section. I checked the switch, box clicked. That was good. Took actuator off mount, pressed button. It was slow or hesitant to extend or retract. The guide said the battery may be low (I tried turning it over like six times when I was out of gas) So I was wondering if anyone else had this issue. I bought a trickle charger today and have it charging the battery. I also felt the actuator rod and it was kind of sticky, so I'm going to WD40 it tomorrow. It's on a 99 Suzuki Intruder Lehman trike.

Sorry for the long post, but I've always wanted to ride and now it seems that dream is fleeting. Thanks for any help!

Was it a new Kliktronic shifter ? If the battery is not fully charged, they don't work properly. Some require a reset every time you turn off and on. I am sure if you search the internet there will be plenty written about the issues and non-issues with electric shifters.

I put it on an battery tender and checked it this morning. It was extending and retracting normally, or so it seemed. I put it back on and it wasn't shifting gears correctly. It had a hard time shifting from neutral to the other gears. It could be an alignment issue on my part since i removed it from the clamp. I'll be looking at that later today.

Ok so here's the update on my issues. Any input or advice would greatly appreciated. I have tried Google and no luck.

We had stopped to get gas and when I started the trike and pressed the button to get into 1st from N it would not shift. My friends rode the trike to make sure it was not having clutch issues and were able to shift fine with their foot. They rode it home for me and had no issues foot shifting. I emailed Kliktronic for advice and they responded saying to check the switches and battery voltage. I used the install instructions to fault check for electric and mechanical issues. I unbolted the actuator from the shifter and pressed the buttons. The audible clicks were there, but the actuator was sluggish to extend and retract. So I bought a battery charger and charged the battery overnight. The next day I tested the actuator and the sluggishness seemed to have disappeared. I bolted the actuator rod end back onto the shifter and tested. It would shift from N to 1st but not from 1st or N to 2nd or above. So I rode it down the road and the same shifting issue occurred. I used the install instructions to make sure it was aligned properly, but it still seems to be having issues. I'm at a loss as what to do and do not have the money to fix or replace parts. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Those intruders seem prone 2 battery problems. I guess u could have it load tested and make sure it has the star washers. Thats all I can offer. I have an 86 700 the battery is in a real pain in the arse spot.

I'll check that. The battery is brand new Deka Gel. I hope that's not the issues. I'm to poor to get another battery lol!

I think I got it working! Oiled the shifter and actuator and made some adjustments and it was back to shifting! Thanks for all the help!
