Quiet muffler for 2009 sportster 1200 with a frankenstin conversion

I have found a true trike to my liking of the subject trike:
09 sportster 1200 with frankenstein trike...It has LOUD pipes...I am 80 and do not like loud. the pipes seem to be shorter than the stock pipes.
Do you know of any pipes that would be quieter and fit? My understanding is that Frankenstein supplied the loud pipes.
Thank you

Old Bob

I would try DK's Thunder Torque's Inserts... For about 20 bucks can't go wrong.. That's what i used to tone down my pipes, And they also got back my low end torque that i lost with loud/open pipes.. ThumbUp

Many thanks for this reply....Bear with me please. Is DK's a member of this forum or a company..dumb question I know but I have no clue.

Thank you...

Ok, I bought this trike today and it is a beauty and then some....

The seller said he'd leave the ad up for the time being...I have saved the photos and will post them soon..Pipes are loud. Vance & Hines....but I found a way to quiet them.

The biggest surprise is that the steering is as effortless as riding a two wheelere.

It has a raked front end as well as a steering stabilizer..No drag to one side whatsoever...Wonderful bike...

That's a great looking trike!!! My wife has a 2009 Sportster with a Champion trike kit, and I have a 2010 Sportster with the same Champion trike kit. They both have a 5 degree rake kit.

The Frankenstein kit is such that you have to use a short exhaust system that stops in front of the rear axle. My guess is that your trike has the V&H Shortshots. There aren't too many options out there, but it looks like you found some baffles that will work. Fortunately with the Champion kit, I was able to go with a longer exhaust.

Two nice looking Sportster champion trikes for sure.
I ordered a set of DK baffle thingies just now for about $27 shipped to door...talked to a tech who has them on his bike...V&H want close to $100 for two of theirs shipped..being cheap, I"ll gamble on the cheaper ones...If they don't work out I am not out very much and can then try something else.

The short shot pipes are not all that bad once the bike is warmed up thoroughly.

I sure am enjoying my new trike..It is so easy to ride..

Since my last post I ordered and received the V&H quiet baffles and tomorrow the dealer will install them. I'm hoping for an improvement..

(I'm also going to ask them to install a windshield and flush the brake fluid front and back.)

V&H quiet baffles installed....seems to be very little difference in the sound. just listened to it at the dealer as it was raining and did not want to ride home. They did not install the D&K thingies as they thought they would be too restrictive..

So far I feel i wasted my money on this venture. I definitely want a quieter exhaust...

Will look for advice on fabricating some home made ones.

Disillusioned.

Put the D&K Thunder-Torque's on They are adjustable, And not too restrictive... And they work...

Thank you, guys for advising me on the use of the DKs.....I will do so...I actually misplaced one but can get a new one in a few days, and they are cheap...

I'll let you know...

Meanwhile, I will get the one I have installed and I imagine that alone will result in a little change..

I'll bet you'll find the misplaced one in the last place you look......
