With the new 2017 Harley Tri Glide Trikes , coming out this month with the new 107 motor, should I buy or wait. I was at the Harley dealer today, and the salesman said expect at least 1 recall. Don't know how much research was done by harley on this new engine. Was considering a 2016, but heard they are going fast. Harley has a special 2.9 interest rate going on now to get rid of them, so they can bring in the new ones. Doesn't it usually take a couple of years to work out the bugs. I know they have a 2 year warranty, wonder if its a good idea to get exstended warranty. Any ways, any ideas or suggestions ? all welcome.... Still also considering a Gold wing. Decisions, Decisions

Once again, the 5year rule, 5yr rule:cool:

Go for it.... Thats what warranties are for.... By the time you wait 5 years the''ll come out a new and better one , Then you''ll have to wait 5 more years... Then guess what.. In Another 5 more years a new and better one....

Yup I think the 5yr is a little too much. I always thought it takes about 2 years to work out the bugs...... IMO

well someone has to buy the new ones to id the bugs. nothing beats the customer abusing the product to find it's weaknesses. I say go for it.

What is your tolerance for frustration? If it is high, buy the first year of a new motor; if it is low wait at least a year. You will be lucky if there is only one recall

I bought one of the first 96 cu in in 07 ... great bike ... great motor ... although ... I had lots of issues getting it to run okay when the air temp got over 90*. I finally had it dyno'd and never had another issue ... was the motor the issue, of course not ... it was the bs requirements the EPA puts on the bikes, like a bike is gonna put enough "stuff" in the air to cause global warming all by itself. Okay ... rant over ... :D

I'm betting a 107 cu in is gonna run at least as hot as the 103 ... probably hotter ... so know in your heart that is what will happen. Plan on de catting, and tuning ... or ... asbestos pants ...

It's just a shame that you purchase an HD and I have to spend thousands of dollars to make the damn thing run right . Maybe it's me but on the Honda forum you do not hear about tuners exhaust modifications or heat issues you're just going to buy it and ride it and everything is right . Makes me wonder why

Why? you don't have to do anything to them if you don't want to. Plenty and I mean a lot of people leave their bike or trike stock, don't complain and don't have problems. The rest of us are making it ours, take pride in the change's or even doing the work our self's. If I wanted to just wash the thing and let a tech do all the work I would by something else. But I like knowing my ride is the way it is because of me not someone else. But then most Harley riders know this.
And there is nothing wrong with any make or model bike or trike out there someone will enjoy it.

:clapping: Well Said

My 2014 was the new Rushmore model. I had 1 recall for clutch master. Otherwise .... 22K miles of pleasure.
Life is short ... quit procrastinating and get what you want.

Bob :D

+1 I bought my '14 late in the model year, so I avoided the issues with the coolant system, but not the clutch master or the clutch switch in the left hand control module, and like Bob, no regrets after 48K miles.

You can spend your life thinking about it, or go for it and ride your a** off!

I kinda like being one of the first to have something and as Rhino says it's got a warranty

If they made one in a Roadglide...I would already have my money down
