I presently own a 2005 Honda Goldwing Trike..I have also owned a 2013 CanAm Spyder RT... I went to see the Slingshot at DYH in Deptford, NJ last week. I was thinking of trading in my Honda trike for one until I checked it out carefully. I didn't get to test ride it since no one put me into one. First mistake..You need to put the customer in the vehicle to convince him to buy it, unless you are like me and just want something different for variety...

It does look very cool, but it is hard as hell to get out of the drivers seat..You have to be double jointed to do this. If you are a large person, forget it..I can't believe that it is sooooo low to the ground. I believe you could drag your hand on the highway while riding..You know you are low when a Smart Car is towering over you...LOL....I would not feel safe on the highways...I believe it belongs on a go cart track..I would hate to have a tractor trailer riding behind me. I would fear it would run over me and not even know I was there...

I will stick with my Honda Goldwing Trike..I feel very safe when riding it...

p.s. At least I gave it a look see.........The high end model can run up to $28,000 plus.....

You are right they are almost impossible [For me] to get in and out of' I sat in a few, And thats the only reason i don't have one.... That said if i was worried about getting run-over by a tractor -trailer, I would sell my Victory and my Tri-Glide ' And only drive my Ram. And hope that the History Channels Asteroid [Not if ; But when] doesn't Hit me...:D

Hey Gordo,

Longtime no see. I was at your house once when i had my spyder. Moved on from that 2 years ago...

"To each his own"...I am 71 years old I am 6'1" tall and weight 210 lbs & I have no trouble getting in "OR" out of my SlingShot...and I have rode bikes since 1959 & have rode to 49 states & 9 Providences of Canada from my home in Ala. on a 2002 Goldwing & the SlingShot is the most fun I have had, since I found out about sex..

test ride

I loved it the test ride but same for me getting in and out of it hurt can't see me doing that everyday. That's the only reason I don't have one. I have been on a Polaris snowmobile since the late 70s so I know the brand.

I wanted one bad. I have some past injuries that make getting out of it worse. But you guys that have know problems enjoy the hell out of them kind of felt like being shot out of a canon. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go karts are easier to get into and out of. The Slingshot is a really fun ride but I have more fun on the bike and the trike. Don't know why they don't have a way to tilt the steering wheel out of the way, passenger side is easy in and out.

Aaaaaaaaaaaa man I'd love to test ride one of those baby's ..........Sure looks like fun, if I had the room to store it I buy one....

But then again, if I had the room to store every toy I want, I'd have to have to have at least a ten car garage.............:gah::gah:

We bought our 2011 TriGlide new. In 2014 Wifey was starting to get the itch to get her own trike, when I showed her pics of the soon to be released Slingshot. She said "I'm getting one of those!" She immediately got her 3-wheel endorsement on our TriGlide, at that time nobody knew yet if you would need it.

When the Slingshots showed up at our local dealer, we went to look. I knew if she drove it, she'd buy it. She did, and she did.

It's loads of fun. She lets me drive it sometimes.

We kind of think of it like an old-timey roadster, but modern. Yes, they have their warts, just like any other vehicle, bike, etc.

After a while you learn to get in and out. A $1000 set of shocks made the ride so much better. She loves it, has 12K miles on it.

You're in the wind without being in the wind. At this time of year in Seattle, that's a big plus.

It does way better donuts than the TriGlide...

I bought mine when they first came out in 2014. I'm 5'10 at about 200 lbs. As others here have noted you learn to get in & out. We have a top on ours so grabbing the frame makes it easier getting in & out. Also having the top gives it a larger presence beside shade. The steering wheel does tilt some or you can get a removable one. I think of the Slingshot as between a conventional trike and a small roadster (Miata).

For the wife & I it's been a great purchase and a much more comfortable ride than either our previous trike, RSV Venture or my sons Can Am.

I love em'...every time I've ridden/drove one, I've liked it more and more. I was seriously getting "Slingshot Fever", and had to wean myself off the Demo Rides or taking the rides in the Ones some of my Friends own....was about to "bite-the-bullet"....:D :D :D
