Question on trading in

Anybody thought about trading in their 2016 Freewheeler for a 2017. Got mine in May and wondering if it is worth trading for the new engine or just keep this one. I am happy with this one but would like the extra power and maybe the running a little cooler. Opinions would be helpful!!!!!!!!

I say "NO"! The M8 is just in production with no real user-tested feedback, and the BATH you would take in the trade-in would not be worth it - IMHO

I agree with Springman. The M8 is brand new with no rider history. I wouldn't buy one the first year and maybe not the second year. You will lose a bunch of money on trade-in. As you said, you were happy with yours until the new motor came out.

Guys,

I am compelled to ask the question: Is you TC103 really so bad? And, with the amount of money difference/loss from such a step....what if you instead applied it to enhancing your existing TC103?

I sort of look at this TC103 vs the M8 a bit differently..... To me, the TC103 is probably the end of a HD engine dynasty....

It is more than capable of hurling my ass down the road in its stock form and its performance can certainly be "massaged" to even greater levels. I know, everyone and their brother complains about the heat....well, that can certainly be "fixed" as well.

Trust me, in time folks will find woes with the M8 too, it only natural.....

I can remember my father telling me the best HD motor was the knucklehead........ All these years later, I sort of understand where he was coming from.....

My warped way of thinking, tells me the M8 as box stock, will equally perform like a mildly modified (tuner, air cleaner) 103.
Pleased with mine after the mods. B4 the minor mods, it really sucked. Was to the point of " why did I buy this?"

I figured that someone in the FW world was going to notice some of the refinements of the M8 in the FW frame. IMHO, for someone already owning a 103 FW, I would wait a year or two like others have said to see how the M8 is working out. For those that don't have a FW, then it would be a fun time to get a FW with the M8 engine and all the benefits of the new lump. OTOH, the 103 as some have said may represent the last really tuneable motor and some might elect to get a deal on a 2016 and hop it up to their hearts content.
