Went for a ride yesterday morning to Bastrop and beyond before it got too hot, was a great morning for a long ride. Later that evening our local chapter of HOG organised a outdoor viewing of "The world's fastest Indian" with Anthony Hopkins. It was a great movie if y'all haven't seen it yet. Michele and I also met quite a few nice folks as we don't get to attend too many of these functions due to my job. Rode home after 10pm and had most of the roads to ourselves, great day indeed!

It's going to be hard to beat that movie the next time. Thats one of those classics that you can watch time & time again. You don't have to like motorcycles or Indians, but it's almost certain you'll be rooting for Burt.

There are a lot of good videos on YouTube about Burt Munro. One below is the first of 3 called Offerings to the God of Speed. Some good stuff!

My wife tells people I'm addicted to YouTube. I wouldn't try to dispute that claim. I reference YouTube for many projects.

I apologize if if this is taking your thread off topic but I couldn't resist another link.

Oddly enough about another New Zealander. John Britten who built & designed his motorcycle completely from scratch in his house. Cast the engine, built a carbon fiber frame and wheels. Johns bike was built for road racing. He took on the big factory racing teams and won with his unique design. I have followed an attended as many motorcycle road racing events as I can since 1989. I have had the privilege of watching this machine run and the uniqueness of everything about it. I think there were 10 or so built an I think Jay Leno had one. The Barber museum also has one. If you've not been to the Barber museum at the Barber Race Track near Birmingham Al. That's a destination every motorcyclist needs to visit. It's unbelievable!!!
Hope you enjoy this little video, be sure to check out the others about John & his bike. Be prepared for the ending.

I've seen pics and drawing of that bike and it was a cool machine. What a shame he was taken just as he was getting going.

In life we must not take for granted the things we love the most, God, country, family, friends and the things that bring joy to our hearts. Live every minute like it's your last. Challenge yourself to experience new things, and push the boundaries. This story and others like it remind me that no matter what, we should never give up on our dreams!

First, I did look at the post dates and realize this is an old post. I want to tell a similar story but didn`t want to start a new thread and maybe this will prompt other groups to do something similar. Three years ago at the height of Covid the only theater operating was our local drive in movie theater, one of only 2 left in Utah. It was moved to Mt. Pleasant from Vernal many years ago, but still retains it's original name, The Basin Drive In. One of the members from another chapter of the riding club I belong to, The Temple Riders Association decided to have a "safe" ride in at the movies,so he picked a night at random, not knowing what the movie was going to be. So far the 3 movies have been Terrible. I don"t remember the 1st movie, the movie the 2nd year was Hotel Transilvania3 and last summer it was about two girls who climb a 200ft abandoned radio tower and get stuck there. It was supposed to be a thriller, tragedy but turned into a comedy at the end. We have had about 20 bikes show up for these movies and no one cares how bad the movies are as we have a great time visiting with each other. This August we will be doing it again. We all meet the next morning and go for a ride thru the Utah mountains then pick a spot for lunch. It is one of the rides many look forward to. It will be done again this year for the 4th year. The date is already set but no body knows what movie will be showing then, not even the theater. They usually don't know till about July. Whatever it will be a great time. As I look outside I see that it is snowing again, I am dreaming of this and other rides I will take this summer. And watching Season 7 of Itichy Boots on YouTube.
