Just wandering has anyone tried the 50 Watt LED Replacement Cornering Light Bulb (SCML50WC-2 from Cyclemax. Is replacement simply as printed and are they brighter than the oem bulbs. They are quite pricey and I haven't seen any kind of review.

Howdy Roger. If my old memory serves me right folks that have tried that melted plastic parts. In most cases the manufactures seem to give all the light that works correctly but with the advent of LED lighting you can get much more brightness with much less heat. If you can locate an LED bulb to fit that would be an excellent solution. :xszpv::xszpv:

BINGO !!! That will not melt plastic! Thanks for passing that on CP. :xszpv::xszpv:

Oh .... it had me wondering too. I knew "E-T" said LEDs, but he called them 50 watt LEDs. I knew .... "can't be".

When I first bought our Trike in 2004, it had the wire cut at the relays to make them hot all the time .... I replaced bulbs a couple times (not a common bulb & not cheap at Honda shop) ....

then I reconnected that wire.

No blown bulbs since.

I may decide to clip it again myself and use a set of these LEDs myself. One could even wire a small DPDT Switch in to the wires and "choose" on the go?

I'm soooooo embarrassed!!

I committed one of my Pet Peeves.

Either that or it just did not get through my thick skull before I developed an opinion. Either way, I must apologize for muddying the water. :AGGHH::AGGHH:

I am really confused now. I guess we now have the description figured out so now how good do they work for 58.00 for two.

If they do indeed have the illumination factor of a 50W bulb then by all means they will be a LOT BRIGHTER than the original 35W ones. The key again is to get the brightness without the heat and these LED bulbs should easily fill the bill. Let us know you results. :xszpv: :xszpv:

Guess someone has to be the Guinea Pig and try them first. I guess it might as well be me.

Cornering Lights

My trike is a 98 so the "cornering lights" are on all the time. Are you asking about a bike where the lights are actually "cornering". That could be factor in regards to the heat generated. Let us know as "inquiring minds" like to know. Looking forward to seeing how this works.

Well, I put my foot in my mouth too. I should have looked at the bulb description before I jumped in. As soon as I saw the listing I knew I had just stepped in it. I am slowly replacing the many incandescent bulbs on my trike so I will be trying these sometime soon. Am still interested in hearing your results.

Thanks for posting the results Rodger. What is the actual difference in brightness from the rider perspective? I totally agree they are making you more visible but do they help you see better as you turn?

I'm with ZOOK.... Money well spent even with what you've shown us already. :xszpv: :xszpv:

They do light the side of the road a lot better, which is good when you have a broken spot in the shoulder or a dead possum laying in the road and hopefully I will be more visible.

Well, at only 6 watts power each vs 35 watts oem each and the brighter white .... I think I will order a set and slip in and clip that wire at the relay and put that switch in there so I can use as cornering or visibility lights.

Cornering Lights

I installed the 50w led's in my cornering lights about a month ago and am well pleased with them. They were a simple plug in and forget. They do much for the side illumination especially with the high beams on. I was afraid oncoming traffic would be continually flashing because of the brightness but thus far it has not been a problem.
