I've noticed that we seem to like our movies and Tv series here, we didn't have a thread dedicated to general discussions on this topic. So here it is :) we can openly Critique our favorite shows and movies and maybe make some new connections with friends with common interests while doing so. If you see a good movie or show...let us know ThumbUp

So I'll start by saying that Assassin's Creed is a definite wait for DVD release. Although this game based movie had some great CGI effects and the fight sequence's were awesome it lagged in places and didn't deliver on a sound story line. Seemed choppy to me, so maybe the dvd release will give us more insight and complete the story

Waiting for "The Walking Dead" and "Better Call Saul" to return for 2017.

My wife and I are big fans of the Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead... This last season left us stunned. Looks like Nigan and the Saviour's have a fight on their hands now!

Excellent thread idea Randall!
We don't go out to movies anymore but wait til we accidentally catch them on TV.
We do have a few TV channels and certain of their shows we like to watch:
Antique Roadshow (just to see how much stuff our family has thrown out through the years that is now worth a fortune...rats!)

Oak Island - wish they would find something significant - like something the Knights Templar hid there...but we think the Black man servant to the landowner got it all long ago..except for a coin or 2 that was dropped in the bush as they wagged the sack of coins across the woods. Would like to hear conversation from anyone who is actually from this area - just to get a different take on it all. Strange, but when a kid I read that story in the Reader's Digest also - was fascinated but never thought of it again until the series came out.

Fixer Upper - have learned a lot as to what to look for and some design ideas IF we ever get to move from Midland. Appreciate that Chip & Joanna are so laid-back and "Texan". I associate so much of their "Texan" characteristics with my own family.

The Monsters Within Me - also a learning curve. For sure, don't use a wire brush on your BBQ grill!
Also worrisome about Valley Fever as we breathe so much dust out here in Midland. Definitely an eye opener. Did you know that armadillos carry leprosy? And we chased those things through the yard and woods at the farm near Austin. Yikes!

Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives - amazing that there is SO much fantastic food outside of our immediate area. We would be hugely fat if we ever move from Midland - which we hope to do, but hope to not become any more hugely fat than we already are.

NCIS - watching out of loyalty = used to be a really good show when they had the Zeva character...after she left it began to degrade...then the Tony character left ... bummer... it's on the way out. They've had a good run.

NCIS - New Orleans.. getting better. Plots are better, character changes are a plus.

Night in the ER and Sex Sent Me to the ER.
WOW on some of the crap those ER people have to put up with along with WOW on some of the cases they handle. Sex Sent Me to the ER...well, can't believe people would be on TV, in person, and tell what they did. That stuff used to be highly personal. Guess if you pay them a handsome enough sum they'll tell all about it.

American Pickers..amazed that people have collected all that stuff - for years - and there seems to be so MUCH of it everywhere! Recognize a lot of it from childhood. Where did they get the money to just run around buying stuff only to throw it in some kind of storage - From the look of some of them they could have had an easier retirement financially had they saved that money - and now lots of them still don't want to sell it...guess they'd rather deprive themselves than let go of it. Interesting to see what the Pickers find and what they pay for it, if the person will sell it.

Ya'll have fun out there!

Hello Carla and Thanks...y'a got some good shows listed here!
Curse of Oak island is one of my son's favorite one's. He's big into pirates, spooky stuff... treasure and history.
Hadn't watched the Monster's within me :AGGHH:
And from the sound of it probably won't now, I've got enough to worry about
We do watch Dinners, Drive in... Got to see Guy when he was here in Taylor awhile back shooting sn epposide on BBQ joint here.
Michele watches the NCIS shows and her mom is hooked as well. They agree that it's changed as the characters have left.

I'm hooked on pickers but watch on demand since my time is spent elsewhere. But good stuff, especially the old bikes, cars and VW stuff

Lol...I'm not sure about the ER shows

Happy Viewing !

The shows I make some kind of effort to watch are:

  • The Big Bang Theory
  • Blue Bloods
  • Elementary
  • Last Man Standing
  • The Middle

We were introduced to the Big Bang show late in the game but have enjoyed it.

Michele and I watch Blue Bloods...it's got Tom Selleck in it so she's hooked. Just started dvr-ing the Last man standing as recommended by our late night thread gang :) so I've got some catching up tp do...man there's so much to watch out there we can't keep up :tvhappy:
Thanks for sharing with us ThumbUp

2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

3. Beauty and the Beast

4. Wonder Woman

5. Spider-Man: Homecoming

6. Justice League

7. The Fate of the Furious

10. Despicable Me 3

We went to see Mohana yesterday and did see a trailer for A Dogs Purpose...looked pretty good

I never saw the John Wick movie, I'll have to catch up on that one before the second. Was it good?

Tell Michelle she has very good taste...yes indeed. :)
James Garner, in his day, was the fore-runner to Tom Sellick....but he was before Michelle's time...long ago and far away....

Magnum P.I. was a favorite indeed...I loved that Ferrari th-5.jpg

Ah yes...can't forget The Rockford Files, and Maverick, those were two great shows I grew up watching ThumbUp.. not that long ago

We liked it, but I don't mind movies with a bit of over the top violence. Good revenge flick. I didn't know that there was going to be a second movie, but I never put much hope in sequels.

Having said that, I look forward to Guardians of the Galaxy 2!

We cut the cable years ago, but we enjoy movies, and we catch series on DVD through the library and Netflix. We are currently watching season 4 of Longmire.

For any fans of science fiction, there will be a sequel to Blade Runner coming soon, and Ridley Scott is involved with it.
