Starting off my build.

Sportster 1200 titled, bike
Ironhorse tree mounts just because

85ish junk corvette.
Tuned port , rear intacked

2 speed dragster glide, 176 gear

choice of 2 other engines,
496 merc cruiser marine
454 90's year engine

will be making springer style front forks shocks at bottom.

Feb is slow month for me, usually I take a week off when I get itch .

un knowns at time,
1 , vette sbc, or bbc , leaning towards sbc, issues of weight on forks
2 Vette rear width. thinking modding front a arms to work in rear, shorten em up, to bring in tires a little .
3 thickness of Dom to use for forks. not worried about chrome everywhere.
4. how fast I will run out of money. :(

twisted...whats the iron mounted mean?? looks like you have parts enough...for fork tubes I used 1/4 wall on last winter....so have others here. check out snu's solid stainless forks in vw forum. lots of good info here on trike talk! larry

Larry, Ironhorse, triple tree, 0 degree rake from when I had a 03 Texas chopper.
I kept the tree when I put 7 degrees on it.

something old , something new thing.

i'll checks out the vw forum , thanks on wall thickness suggestions.
41 Mm, equals about the 1 5/8 OD dom. some OD machining to make slip into trees.

sat progress. getting parts inside of shop, checking 2 speed glide out, stripping engine down to get rid of emissions ****. pondering seat placement, length of drive shaft ect. today.

I had a machine shop make me a set of triple Ts from harley specs for 2 in dom and the cost was i believe 180. I ordered the dom from on line as i could not find local that was about 120 shipped. Mr Magoo also made his own triple t .. as other said lots of info here. I look forward to see this build take place. My junk seemed to take for ever to build and I still want to make improvements but the bucks keep holding me back:(

haven't nailed down tube size on forks, or how far out it will be.
I would like to hear from some on turning radius with 42 degrees vs wheel base comparison. Is there a thread on this? would be helpful info before a build.

I wanted 11 inch converter, they sent a 10. :xzqxz: it was listed as 11 (bolt mounts) then in description, was said 10. communication. its still hit and miss with some. I had to downsize converter, bellhousing would not like the 12.5 inch one.
Starting frame build this week, engine, trans rear are on a lift table in shop, I built a 5 x 10 foot table on top of a 42 inch dock lift. hoping on shorting up trailing arms on Vette rear, so they can be used in spot, makes it easier than remaking new a arms top and bottom . I don't know how much I can hide under rear area , like fuel and battery , ect.
Cleaning today, sunday. no dom for frame.

Clearance to blacktop

I would like to hear about clearance , speed bumps were always a issue on old bike. Sitting at 6 inches now.

twisted.... on last winter trike I have about 8' wheel base..45deg. forks turn circle maybe 16/20' easy u turn on 2 lane road. small conv good ,lite trike will want to creep at stop lite. 2" dia x 1/4 wall dom should be fine fork mtl. with motor up front maybe a little less rake? just my 02..... project looking good already! larry

guess that deepens on if your frame or your exhaust hits 1st.... it can get pretty squished .. dont ask me how i know

in my case my engine oil pan would hit first. Thats why I am planning a a strong skid plate

on last winter....oil pan 7.5" frame 6" radiator air scoop 5"??? kinda low....gotta avoid the speed bumps. tire ht. 3.5" so clearances legal per state regs. larry

Like the look! good to see the project underway.... looks to have stout trees.. what kind of framing from neck to chassis?
