Memphis Shades Batwing fairing

Good evening, all.

I apologize in advance as I am well aware I am all over the place with things I want to do to my FW. I was recently informed by my wife that we will be doing vacation at the Outer Banks in June with her folks. I will be riding my FW down with our two wee ones alternating as my passenger. Given I will have a passenger the entire ride down and back, the replacement of the OEM air shocks has rocketed to, and secured, the number one spot for Things To Change On Scarlett.

Now, for part two, and the reason for my post...

I have no issues with wind fatigue on short rides, as in one to two hours. This will be roughly five hours on interstate, however, and I'd rather avoid wind fatigue as much as possible. I was going to simply purchase the OEM HD windshield, but have seen a few pictures of FWs with a fairing that look very nice. The Memphis Shades Batwing appeals to me as it appears to be quick on/quick off. I like that it can be removed when I am not making a long haul, but easy to attach for long rides/cooler weather.

Might any of you folks have or have tried a fairing of any make on the FW? If so, what are your thoughts.

As always, any insight is greatly appreciated.

Take care, and have a great weekend.

I have the Memphis shades batwing on my 2015 freewheeler. I bought it in Sturgis Aug 2015. At that time the fairing was not listed as able to fit the freewheeler but I was at the Memphis shade booth at JP cycles in Sturgis and asked to try one that fit a road king. It fit perfect, even quite tight around the headlight and I did not even have to change the freewheelers mounting buttons. Bottom line. No more buffeting of the helmet works great in the rain takes 2 seconds to remove or put on, Would not be without it Any more questions send me a message

I have a 15 FW in superior blue and am interested in getting a Memphis Shades fairing that will directly attach to my stock mounts like yours. What model RK does that fairing fit? Any help would be appreciated.

The fairings are all the same. You also have to buy the brackets. the brackets that fit are part no. 2320-0048 they fit directly to the freewheelers stock mounting points and they also come with additional mounting tabs that you can keep as a spare. Its too bad you don't live near me cause you could see how nice they fit. I have a picture but don't know how to post it and I cant understand the directions on how to do it (feeble minded lol)

Thank you. I appreciate the info as well as the time to answer my question. I tried to put mine on there and the pics were either/or upside down or sideways and 11X14 size!LOL

Would you mind telling how much it cost

Would you mind telling how much it cost

looking at my bill 8/4/15
batwing fairing =299.99
deflectors =24.99
7 inch windshield =84.99
mount kit =149.99
total = 559.96
I don't use the deflectors. They make it look funny IMO

Just ordered mine from E-Bay. Same price. They sell it as a complete kit, fairing, mounting brackets and windshield. Went for a year without a windshield at all, then 'modified' the windshield from wife's Deluxe. Last year on a trip to Yellowstone I kind of missed the 'no chest wind' I had on the Ultra and Tri, so I ordered the Memphis Shade
Should be here next week

You are going to love that fairing. Now that its raining in California, you will find the fairing has a great place to tuck your rain suit in it lol

Thank you so very much, Gerald!

I'm waffling somewhat between the fairing and a basic HD windshield. The windshield has the pros of smaller, easier to store when not attached to my FW, doesn't need painted to match the red of my FW, and a few hundred less in cost. The pros of the fairing are a more attractive appearance, and, it appears, a greater amount of coverage.

Decisions, decisions...

IT CAME TODAY!!

Now considering I had back surgery 12 days ago I'm moving pretty slowly! From unwrapping to completed it took 45 minutes. This includes the 5 minutes it took me to get on all 4's to pick up the screw I dropped and get back up again. It will be a couple of weeks before I can test ride it.... unless wife goes away for a while and I can sneak it out for a quick putt ;) I've attached a couple of pictures, front and back. I'll be ordering the windshield bags, not sure how to mickey mouse the old windshield bags I had on the altered windshield I used before

A newbie I am but I installed a Memphis Shades Batwing on my FLRT and I adjusted it all the way forward and all the way down.

There is a 1" gap between the fairing and the headlight.

It looks like it is laid back too far. Is there an easy way to correct this?

Have any of you run into this?

Hi All, Can someone tell me how well the Memphis shades batwing hold up after wear from riding. Trying to get an idea to Memphis shades or fiberglass? I am retired and a BOB.
